The liberal website Talking Points Memo [see screen capture below] is accepting and running advertisements for a company called Freak Flags, a California outfit which creates flags designed like the U.S. flag but with the stars in the canton pushed off the side of the blue field, while symbols like the Star of David, Christian cross, or the U.S. dollar sign are emblazoned in the center. The idea of each is a left-wing critique of those who "put Israel first" or "put Jesus first" or "put Wall St. first," respectively.
But a review of the company's website's blog reveals some anti-Semitic rantings regarding the president's call for airstrikes in Syria.
In a September 10 blog post entitled "Why Not Ask Yourself," the author, "WavyGravy," protested the president's push for military airstrikes in Syria by suggesting a pro-Israel interest group was the puppet master behind U.S. foreign policy:
Who benefits from a chemical weapons attack in Syria? Syrian President Bashar al-Assad? Really? So he provides perfect excuse to freedom-bomb hisself into oblivion that syncs flawlessly with the coordinated corporate-welfare media "Red-Line-in-the-Sand" hype blitz of the last few weeks?
Or ... these guys:The American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) is set to "mount a major blitz" in support of US President Barack Obama's resolution to take military action in Syria
Back in 2005, AIPAC Executive Director Howard Kohr bragged about his role in hyping similar WMD bullshit when the New York Sun reported, “According to Mr. Kohr, AIPAC’s successes over the past year also include guaranteeing Israel’s annual aid package and ‘quietly’ lobbying Congress to approve the use of force in Iraq.” AIPAC got its Iraq War and then Israel PM Ariel Sharon declared, after the invasion in 2003: "Everybody has to move, run and grab as many (Palestinian) hilltops as they can to enlarge the settlements because everything we take now will stay ours...Everything we don't grab will go to them."
So, if you're the one sitting on occupied Syrian land/water, say ... on the West Bank. And the Syrian government gets disappeared by freedom-bombs. And there's anarchy and violence and generally batshit wack-a-doodle in what used to be Syria.Who benefits? People grabbing as many hilltops as they can to enlarge the settlements because everything they take now will stay theirs?
This Freak Flag's for them.
Three days early, the same author leveled a screed against Jews and Christians:
The palace scribes of our rulers declare Syrian president Assad must be punished:
Punishing Assad may not accomplish much, but not punishing him sets a terrible precedent: that we will let pass the use of chemical weapons. Even though the something to be done isn't perfect, something is sometimes all you can get.
Bertrand Russell said, "The infliction of cruelty is a delight to those who regulate the morals of others. That is why they invented Hell." And he was right.
Hell-on-Earth for any innocent Syrians who happen to be in the path of our freedom-bombs -- is better than no punishment at all.
We are ruled by the worst people on Earth.
They all need Judeo-Christian Flags.
"Freak Flags are just things designed to freak people out. That's all we're trying to do," boasts the company in the "about us" section of their website.
It seems to me the advertising department at Talking Points Memo should be freaked out that they are accepting advertising dollars from such a stridently anti-Semitic, anti-Christian company.
