A horrific story coming out of Florida reinforces the need for interior border enforcement in sanctuary cities and states. So far, that story has gone unreported on legacy media newscasts that often use local crash stories as filler.
NewsNation is the sole outlet to cover the story so far. Here is their brief as aired on NewsNation Now on Sunday, August 17th, 2025:
So far (8/17), NewsNation has put the legacy nightly news to shame by covering the tractor trailer vehicular manslaughter by an illegal alien making an illegal u-turn on the Florida Turnpike. pic.twitter.com/JyyZiBgO52

ANNA KOOIMAN: And some breaking news out of Florida: a commercial truck driver is now in ICE custody after allegedly causing a crash that killed 3 people. Police in Fort Pierce say a 28 year-old man was driving on the (Florida) Turnpike in a semi truck Tuesday when he tried to make an illegal u-turn, hitting a minivan. A 37 year-old woman from Pompano Beach and a 54 year-old man from Miami died at the scene of that crash. A driver in a separate car was flown to a hospital and later died from his injuries. Police say the suspect entered the country illegally when he crossed the Mexican border back in 2018.
But there’s much more to the story. Per the Treasure Coast News:
FORT PIERCE — The driver of a tractor-trailer involved in an accident Aug. 12 that killed three people on Florida’s Turnpike in St. Lucie County has been arrested on vehicular homicide charges and immigration violations, state officials said.
Harjinder Singh was in the country illegally, having crossed into the United States from Mexico in 2018, the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles said Saturday, Aug. 16. Singh obtained a commercial driver’s license in California, the department said.
One could reasonably expect that such a story would make it on the evening or weekend news. The crash happened Tuesday, and drivercam footage of the crash has gone viral multiple times over. But it hasn’t been covered nationally. The story is simply too inconvenient, given the current immigration environment.
An illegal alien entering through the southern border at California, receiving a state-issued commercial driver’s license. And on Tuesday, he attempted an illegal u-turn that ended up killing 3 people. That this could happen is, to say the least, a scandal.
This briefest of briefs was more than ABC, CBS, NBC, Univision, or Telemundo could muster. Likewise NewsNation’s cable counterparts. This story underscores the need for robust interior enforcement at a moment when California Governor Gavin Newsom is trying to resist that and at the same time muster headlines for his gerrymandering referendum.
This story is equally damaging to the immigration advocacy agenda of both Univision and Telemundo. It is likely that these individuals had no prior record. Until they did. And it makes it harder to make the argument that traffic offenses are not deportable offenses.
This is why you haven’t seen this story on the nightly news. And if you ever do, it will be interesting to see what gets stripped out of the story before it airs.
Exit question: How many more illegal alien drivers are out there, on American roads, with sanctuary state-issued CDLs and little to no knowledge of our language or traffic laws? This is the story after the story.
