NBC’s Was the Only Legacy Newscast to Cover San Diego ICE-Surrection

June 3rd, 2025 10:51 AM

If an insurrection dropped in a tony San Diego neighborhood and no legacy media covered it, did it really happen? With the exception of NBC Nightly News, this seems to be the working assumption among the legacy media evening newscasts.

Even the lone NBC mention was wanting, and appeared to be more of a vehicle for whining about White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller allegedly hauling ICE brass in and demanding more deportations. Here is that report in its entirety:

NBC NIGHTLY NEWS

6/2/25

6:36 PM

TOM LLAMAS: We now turn to those new confrontations over the Trump administration’s deportation efforts, and the raid at a restaurant sparking backlash. We'll show you that video in a moment. Plus, our new reporting tonight, the top Trump aide who wants ICE agents to start arresting 3,000 undocumented immigrants a day. Liz Kreutz has the story.

PROTESTERS: Shame, shame, shame, shame!

LIZ KREUTZ: Tonight, viral video showing the chaos. Protesters confronting ICE agents after a surprise raid on a popular Italian restaurant in San Diego. Agents setting off what appear to be flash bang grenades to disperse crowds around their vehicle. This witness asked not to be identified, fearing retribution.

WITNESS: This isn't freedom, this is fascism.

KREUTZ: DHS saying the devices allowed the agents to leave “as safely as possible”, and that officers were executing search warrants for violations of hiring and harboring illegal aliens, arresting four subjects illegally in the U.S. It comes as NBC News has learned top Trump aide Stephen Miller held a meeting screaming at ICE officials to arrest more undocumented immigrants, according to two sources who spoke with attendees. Miller setting a new quota of 3,000 arrests per day, to include more than migrants with criminal records. President Trump says he's keeping his campaign pledge to reverse Biden’s border policies.

DONALD TRUMP: They were pouring into our country by the millions. (VIDEO SWIPE) But we’re moving them out…

KREUTZ: In Massachusetts, ICE officials announcing the arrest of nearly 1,500 undocumented immigrants last month, including some convicted of murder and child rape.

LEAH FOLEY: These are not immigrants. They are criminals.

KREUTZ: But there were protests after an 18-year-old high school junior was arrested on his way to volleyball practice. DHS said they never intended to apprehend him, but discovered he was in the U.S. illegally, while looking for his father.

And here in San Diego, the community is rallying behind this restaurant, with the owner calling the raid nothing short of traumatic. Tom.

LLAMAS: Okay, Liz Kreutz for us. Liz, thank you.

That was 46 seconds total for the San Diego ICE-surrection, wherein members of the community came out and obstructed the removal of illegal aliens. Try to imagine how the media would’ve covered, say, parents surrounding federal agents arresting parents protesting at their local school boards. There would be high dudgeon and hysterical tie-ins to January 6th.

But there wasn’t enough time to spare because the Miller allegations needed to be aired. As if the American people didn’t vote for more deportations.

To their credit, NBC did report on the removal of 1500+ criminal aliens in Massachusetts, a sanctuary state, and did note that some of these sanctuary beneficiaries were in fact child rapists.

Nonetheless, NBC’s report treated immigration enforcement as if it were a crime, as opposed to illegally entering the country and in some cases, committing actual crimes. The legacy media continue to act as it did during the Biden years, proving they’ve learned nothing.
