The Macy's Thanksgiving Parade: The Lefty Media vs. Average Americans

November 29th, 2025 4:07 PM

The actual Thanksgiving Day has passed. Doubtless the media is letting forth a sigh of relief that while the Christmas season is now upon us, honoring Santa Claus is a whole lot easier than going through - again! - the annual debate over those pesky Pilgrims and what really happened when those European white guys landed on the shores of New England, poised to steal and ravage everything belonging to Native Americans.

Geoffrey Dickens here at NewsBusters has perfectly touched on the problem lefty journos have in dealing with Thanksgiving Day. Among other things he noted: “Over the years the MRC has tracked liberal journalists’ hatred of this very American holiday and how they’ve tried to ruin it for everybody. The following are some of the most egregious examples of lib journos attempts to wreck Thanksgiving:”

He goes on to list three ways the lefty media has organized its disdain, including:

-- America was "founded on violence"

-- Politics ruin Thanksgiving, unless you're lecturing conservatives

-- How dare (Republican) presidents exploit Thanksgiving for photo-ops

Geoff does a great job of illustrating just how the lib media treats a unique and decidedly favorite American holiday.

But without question, the media has not made the sale of its disdain for Thanksgiving to the American people themselves.

All one has to do is watch the traditional Macy’s Thanksgiving parade in New York and the media’s problem is evident.

The streets of New York -- lefty New York at that! -- are jam packed with thousands of Americans cheering on marching bands from around the country, not to mention those gigantic balloons of this or that cartoon character, all of those anchored in some fashion that leaves watching kids agog.

A few years back, along with a few cousins, I ventured into Manhattan the night before Thanksgiving to watch those balloons and floats be prepped for their debut the next day. It was an amazing sight.

The balloons and floats had taken over the side streets of Manhattan, and those side streets, not to mention the main avenues were already packed with thousands of regular folks who were there to get a sneak preview of what the world would see through the eyes of the television lenses the next day. There was, quite literally, considerable difficulty just walking along the streets. They were jammed with people of all ages oohhing and ahhing as they watched the balloons and floats get prepped for their holiday debut.

And that next day debut was exactly like what Americans and the larger world saw Thursday as they waited for the family turkey to be cooked to perfection along with the usual assortment of side dishes.

The streets of New York -- say again the streets of the biggest deep-blue city in America -- were filled with tens of thousands of people cheering on the parade, not to mention giving the final float a rousing cheer for the red suited jolly man who sat atop that float at the end of the parade. Santa Claus of course!

All of which should (but probably won’t) send a message to the left wing, Trump-hating media that whether it’s the thousands filling the streets of New York for the Macy’s parade or millions more stretched around the rest of the country who are watching the TV parade coverage from home, Americans are not buying the gloom and doom about America or its current President regularly dumped out of television and computer screens by left-wing journos.

Now the Christmas season is officially launched. Decorated Christmas trees are already appearing through the windows of homes and businesses in my Pennsylvania neck of the woods. And so too are they already in evidence out here on Eastern Long Island (the decidedly not-the-Hamptons parts where extended family resides, although Christmas decorations are popping out there too!)

Which says that one of the decidedly unintentional messages from all of this is that try as they might, the lefty media is not only not convincing average Americans that something is terribly wrong with their country and their President (that would be the President they voted for in 2024) but they are going about their everyday business and not buying into the anti-American propaganda that spews forth from various lefty networks and newspapers.

Imagine that. So on we all go -- with a Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah now within sight.

Even if that makes the liberal media an electronic version of a Charles Dickens’ favorite -- Scrooge!
