Liberal radio talker and ex-"Crossfire" host Bill Press has awakened from his half-decade long slumber when it comes to dubious actions by the Obama administration.
The longtime Obama butt-kisser complained on his radio show yesterday that it's bad enough for Americans to learn the NSA has been eavesdropping on foreign leaders long considered allies of the US. Even worse, Press complained, is the claim that Obama was unaware of the spying, since this leads to the unavoidable conclusion that it was authorized by others without the president's consent. Here's a clip of Press making his displeasure clear (h/t for audio, Brian Maloney, mrctv.org) --
Now the White House says, well, we won't admit we were spying on (German chancellor) Angela Merkel but we will admit that the president didn't know about it until last summer. Who the hell's in charge? ...
I think this raises more questions than answers because if the president didn't know about it, this is five years, five years into his presidency, what else didn't he know about and who is making the decision? Is it plausible to you, is it believable, is it acceptable that somebody else is making the decision to tap the private cell phone of Angela Merkel or (French president) Francois Hollande or Queen Elizabeth or David Cameron or you name it, the leader of any of our friendly allies, that is it acceptable that somebody other than, somebody else let's say, the head of the CIA or the head of the NSA, would make that decision and not tell the president of the United States? I think to me, that defense is worse than saying the president ordered it because it just sort of shows that, you know, things are out of control. I mean, who is in charge of our intelligence, man? I gotta tell you, we need more than, I believe, we need more than a review. I think we need, we need a total shakeup of the NSA. ...
I don't know about you, but I think this defense that the president didn't know is not a very good one.
Can't wait to hear a comparably indignant Press slam the worst debacle of the decade, aka Obamacare, though don't be surprised if it takes him years to summon the courage for such heresy.
