On Monday, Hip-Hop icon Ice Cube popped up on New York's 105.1 FM's The Breakfast Club to chat about music, movies, basketball...and arresting the President. That's right, the rapper/actor (real name O'Shea Jackson) proclaimed he "can't wait to see" Donald Trump in handcuffs.
The former member of the rap group NWA -- who also enjoyed a successful solo career -- was invited on The Breakfast Club to promote his pro-basketball league The Big 3, as well as his upcoming movie and music projects. When the conversation turned to music Ice Cube (real name O’Shea Jackson) said he wasn’t as interested in the industry but is still touring because “I still got stuff to say."
That prompted Breakfast Club co-host Charlamagne Tha God to remind the rapper about his 2018 song “Arrest the President,” in which Ice Cube rapped about Russian collusion and urged Robert Mueller to arrest Trump. When Charlamagne asserted Trump will leave the White House “in handcuffs,” Ice Cube gleefully responded “Man. I can’t wait to see that.”
The following is the relevant exchange from the March 16 edition of 105.1 FM’s The Breakfast Club:
ICE CUBE: I'm touring, I got tour dates coming. I never stopped. It's, it’s a part of who I am. I love it and it's really about just -- you know -- being a b-boy and not nothing else -- you know? I'm not -- I don't care about the [music] industry as much as I used to but I do care about -- you know -- the music -- doing it, still staying active. I still got stuff to say. So it's fun.
CHARLAMAGNE THA GOD: I mean you did “Impeach the President” and they did impeach the president.
ICE CUBE: Yeah I mean I said “Arrest the [President].” They still haven't gotten to arrest the President. That’s what I want to do.
CHARLAMAGNE THA GOD: Well he get out that White House, he definitely gonna be in handcuffs.
ICE CUBE: Man. I can’t wait to see that, man.
