Outstanding Move: NewsNation Hires Katie Pavlich for Weeknight Primetime Show

December 15th, 2025 8:17 PM

On Monday morning, the great people at NewsNation — the network CNN claims to be but isn’t — announced it hired longtime conservative media commentator, editor, and writer Katie Pavlich to host a weekday primetime show at 10:00 p.m. Eastern that will launch “early 2026.”

Nexstar Networks President Sean Compton trumpeted Pavlich’s arrival as one that will “give our primetime viewers an additional hour of political news and analysis” from “a seasoned journalist and commentator, and we believe her unique voice will be a tremendous asset to our primetime audience.”

The network also said in their press release that “Pavlich will offer her sharp insight on major news and current events, covering topics such as free speech, culture, immigration, national security, and foreign policy” along with “spirited debates along with dynamic panel discussions and in-depth conversations with key newsmakers.”

Pavlich shared she’s “honored to join NewsNation during this dynamic period in its development” and the job will be “an exceptional privilege.”

She joins the network of “News for All Americans” following 16 years as editor for our buddies at Townhall and 12 years of regular appearances with our friends at the Fox News Channel (FNC). In her later years, she served as fill-in co-hosts for FNC’s slew of primetime shows.

Pavlich will be taking the slot previous held since March 1, 2021 by Ashleigh Banfield, who will remain with the network as a contributor and host a NewsNation-backed true-crime podcast and further lean into a topic that became the central focus of her eponymous show.

With Pavlich onboard, NewsNation’s ideological balance in the evenings is the most down the middle in cable news.

The evening lead-ins to Pavlich will stay put as, following The Hill with moderator Blake Burman at 6:00 p.m. Eastern, former ABC’s World News Tonight co-anchor Elizabeth Vargas remains in place followed by former CNN host Chris Cuomo and then former longtime FNC host and foreign correspondent Leland Vittert.
