Over at Twitchy, our friend Sarah D. wrote Wednesday that NBCNews.com came out swinging against America’s beloved fast-food restaurant and conservative icon Chick-fil-A for what they deemed was alleged racism in Twitter response to a customer.
“Chick-fil-A is under fire for a tweet that social media users said called out a Twitter user’s race,” read the tweet, which focused on a reply Chick-fil-A’s official account sent back to @KANYEISMYDAD after he had tweeted his disappointment that it didn’t yet have spicy chicken nuggets on the menu.
In response, Chick-fil-A tweeted back: “Your community will be the first to know if spicy items are added to the permanent menu, Don!”
Today show staffer Francesca Gariano argued Chick-fil-A had, by using “community,” referred to the customer being Black and living in a Black neighborhood.
The rest of the piece trumpeted users who saw racism all around the Christian, conservative, family-owned institution.
Sarah D. had the perfect reaction to go with reactions from Alex Griswold and Jim Treacher: “Any Twitter users who called out the account’s decision to use the term ‘your community’ are morons. As is NBC News for thinking there was even a story here.”
