A few days after a contentious appearance on The Daily Show, Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels made clear to the Washington Examiner’s “Yeas & Nays” column that he didn’t appreciate how Jon Stewart treated him.
In the item in Wednesday’s newspaper, “Stewart not among Mitch Daniels favorite book tour stops,” the free daily’s Nikki Schwab noted how Daniels is on a book tour and “said he had met some interesting people along the way, but not among them, a certain host of The Daily Show, on which Daniels appeared on last week. ‘If you think I'm going to say Jon Stewart, you’re wrong,’ he told Yeas & Nays. ‘I'm just not going to.’”

From the “Yeas & Nays” item in the Wednesday, September 28 Washington Examiner:
Completing another leg of his book tour Monday night, Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels stopped by the National Press Club to promote the new tome Keeping the Republic: Saving America by Trusting Americans. Daniels said he had met some interesting people along the way, but not among them, a certain host of The Daily Show, on which Daniels appeared on last week.
“If you think I’m going to say Jon Stewart, you’re wrong,” he told Yeas & Nays. “I’m just not going to.”
Last Wednesday’s interview with the liberal comedian was a toughie, with Stewart questioning Daniels about current Republican policies and then calling him out for every misstep.
When Stewart asked about Republicans cozying up to the rich, Daniels said that wasn't the case. “It is our business to see the people without much money have a chance to make much more,” Daniels said, to which Stewart asked if he was a socialist to big laughs. Daniels tried making the point that pols should tone down the heated rhetoric, but then got skewered for it after saying the president had an “obsession” with the wealthy. “Alright, let me just go through the language — obsession, bashing and confiscate — I understand the language of unity and I'm not sure that that's it,” Stewart remarked.
And to finish things off, Stewart joked about how the two shared the same short stature at the conclusion of Daniels’ appearance. Ouch....
