Appearing as a guest on the Wednesday, January 22, The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell, MSNBC's Karen Finney grasped at straws to try to link opposition to abortion to the possibility of not trusting women to hold various professional roles in business or politics.
During a discussion of Republicans who have embraced this year's annual March for Life, Finney jumped in:
Can I just add, I mean, so much of what this conversation is about and why the war on women has been so effective as a way to talk about this is, women feel like they are under siege?
When you are telling a woman that she cannot be trusted to make personal, private medical decisions, or make decisions about when she wants to start a family or who she wants to start a family with, if you don't trust that woman to be able to be capable of making those decisions, why should we think that you trust us to do anything else? To be a CEO, to be President, to be a Senator?
She added:
I mean, it really, and if you look at the measures that are being passed at the state level, sort of chipping away, chipping away and then the level of the conversation, it's insulting to women. And I think that's part of what the Republican party does not get. In addition to the fact that seven in ten Americans support the principles of Rowe, it's also that women are offended by the rhetoric that they're using.
