“We have a president without shame.”
So said New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman yet again this past Sunday. Friedman saw fit to utter that phrase twice during the most recent edition of CNN’s Reliable Sources — but that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Over the past year, Mr. Friedman has turned this observation into something of a catchphrase, busting it out at every conceivable opportunity. It’s unclear why he keeps recycling such a low-impact slogan. Perhaps he’s hoping it’ll catch on and others will start repeating it? So far nobody has.
Sure, maybe exposing this goofy habit of Friedman’s doesn’t tell readers anything that they didn’t already know. Anyone familiar with Friedman’s work is well aware that he’s a chronic leftist, and that his contempt for the President runs deeper than most comfortable thinking about. But when you take every available clip of him using this catchphrase and play them all back-to-back, the result is pretty comical:
