The Saturday installment of ABC’s Good Morning America claimed to have found something President Biden should be concerned about: he’s not enough of a climate zealot. With no discussion on how Biden’s environmental policies impact the real world or even a Republican response, all viewers got were some far-left activists lamenting “it’s embarrassing.”
During a pre-recorded report, MaryAlice Parks hyped environmentalists making nuisances of themselves, “In Washington climate change activists arrested in front of the White House, in Boston interrupting rush hour traffic, and thousands demonstrating in New York City this week hoping to put pressure and world leaders gathered at the United Nations.”
Parks then teed up a clip of U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres, who had a subtle choice of words, “Climate chaos is breaking new records, but we cannot afford the same old broken record of scapegoating and waiting for others to move first.”
From “climate change” to “climate chaos,” but moving right along, Parks lamented, “But noticeably absent from the U.N. Climate Summit this week: President Biden. The White House sending special envoy John Kerry instead.”
Outside the White House, Parks spoke to activist and Prof. Paul Zietz who reacted to that news by declaring, “We have a moral responsibility and an obligation to help lead and he's not even going to the summit. It's embarrassing.”
After reporting on the establishment of Climate Corps, “an AmeriCorp-stlye program providing job opportunities for 20,000 Americans in conservation and clean energy,” Parks added “Still, those demonstrations, part of the Democrats' activist base, telling us that for them it's not nearly enough from this president.”
Another activist Parks spoke with was Kai Newkirk who mourned, “He’s not using his power as president to declare a national climate emergency, he broke his promise to end drilling for fossil fuels on federal lands.”
A melodramatic Newkirk added, “we’re going to keep coming back and making the sacrifice, protesting peacefully to say you have to do it now.”
Newkirk isn’t sacrificing anything. If you keep coming back after getting arrested then getting arrested is a simply inconvenience not some great sacrifice.
Back live, Parks declared, “Now those demonstrators I talked to told me they're just frustrated with President Biden heading into the campaign, it is clear he will have to talk to them and he is really feeling the pressure. They want serious, fast action to cut fossil fuels.”
The only reference to Republicans came at the very end, “this is such an interesting and stark contrast with the other party because, guys, of course Republicans are running on a message to undo and roll back any work President Biden has done to transition to renewables.”
No explanation why Republicans are in “stark contrast” was given as gas prices increase while Biden cancels oil drilling leases in Alaska, which Parks conveniently forgot to mention. That won't save the planet, but it will ensure Americans pay more for gas while allowing Vladimir Putin to rake in more cash for his war effort. Who’s the Putin stooge now?
