This was pretty funny. William Shaheen, Hillary's New Hampshire co-chair and husband of Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, appearing on today's With All Due Respect, boasted that he knows where Hillary stands on 10 different issues.
But when hosts Mark Halperin and John Heilemann put Shaheen to the test, asking him where Hillary stands on the Keystone Pipeline and the Trans Pacific trade deal, Shaheen had to sheepishly admit that he didn't know Hillary's view on either issue, despite his boast and having specifically said that he knows where Hillary stands on trade.
Shaheen did get off a good laugh line, claiming that Hillary is a woman of integrity and that what she wants to do in this world "has nothing to do" with herself. Billy, you're killin' us!
WILLIAM SHAHEEN: She hasn't changed at all. She's still the same person. If you asked her on 10 different items or issues what she stands on, I could tell you what they are without listening to her. I know how she feels about increasing wages. I know how she feels about equal pay. I know how she feels about comprehensive immigration reform. I know how she feels about trade. I know how where she stands.
MARK HALPERIN: How does she feel about the Keystone Pipeline?
SHAHEEN: That, I do not know. That's probably number 10! That's probably the tenth one I don't know.
. . .
HEILEMANN: Billy, a second ago, you said you know where she stands on trade. She was asked about the TPP today, and at least from what I could hear from her answer I don't know where she stands on that trade agreement. Where do you think she stands on that?
SHAHEEN: Here's what I think. I think one of the things she understands, that has to happen, is that we have to deal with the plight of the middle class. We have to rebuild the middle class, we have to retain good jobs over here, good-paying jobs over here, and we have to tax people who are taking jobs away run this country. And I think when it comes down to that, she's going to vote [sic] the right way, she's going to support the right issues because she's really a fighter for the middle class. And those jobs belong to the middle class.
HEILEMANN: But Billy, you said a second ago that you knew where she stood on trade. So, do you know where she stands on this deal or not?
SHAHEEN: Well, I don't know where she stands on that particular deal. I do not.
