Univision loves to fuel the fake news flames, even if it means fanning them in times of a national emergency.
Case in point is this video from the network´s morning kaffeeklatsch Despierta America, that showcases their skill at instilling panic and division in the country.
Watch as co-host Alan Tacher parrots Democrat unfounded conspiracy theories in a frontal attack at President Trump for “dissolving” the White House pandemic response office:
ALAN TACHER: Edwin, listen, I have another question. This morning, a disturbing report emerged that the government had known since October that a pandemic like this could happen, and that they were not ready. What else does this report show?
EDWIN PITTI: So Alan. And this is very worrisome because since last October, their Department of Health performed a study, usually the federal government does it, to make sure they were prepared to deal with any problems.
They created a pandemic, a pandemic scenario, to see if the United States could confront it, and they discovered that they did not have the funding, that there was no coordination between federal agencies. But the most troubling thing is that the White House knew about it and the way President Trump reacted was in fact by closing the crisis management office at the White House. That’s my live report from Washington. Back to you..
The framing play by Tacher in this report is clearly evident as he flings a “question” at Univision´s White House correspondent Edwin Pitti: “This morning a disturbing report emerged that the government had known since October that a pandemic like this could happen, and that they were not ready.”
Pitti´s synched response was the real low blow: The most troubling thing is that the White House knew about it and the way President Trump reacted was in fact by closing the Crisis Management Office at the White House.”
Just a teeny little research by Tacher, or Pitti especially, would have revealed that the White House pandemic response team was not eliminated, as they are set on making viewers believe in order to further make them more anxious than they already are.
On the same day of the aforementioned Despierta America report, the Washington Post published an op-ed by former National Security Council adviser Tim Morrison that addresses this very matter.
According to Morrison, the directorate of global health and biodefense was merged with two other positions in order to slim down the heavily bureaucratic National Security Council —not eliminated.
Here a some of Morrison’s informed statements about the issue at hand:
"If anything, the combined directorate was stronger because related expertise could be commingled.” “It has been alleged by multiple officials of the Obama administration, including in The Post, that the president and his then-national security adviser, John Bolton, ‘dissolved the office' at the White House in charge of pandemic preparedness.” “Because I led the very directorate assigned that mission, the counterproliferation and biodefense office, for a year and then handed it off to another official who still holds the post, I know the charge is specious."
For sure, a disclaimer from Univision would be too much to ask for, but to you, our readers we advise: be aware of the fake news, particularly now in times when we must all stick together and help unite, not divide, the country.
