With seemingly nothing to report on President Donald Trump's briefings on the Coronavirus pandemic, Univision’s morning show Despierta America reverted instead to knocking Trump for having the temerity to tweet that he saw the light at the end of the tunnel.
Watch below as Correspondent Edwin Pitti labels the president’s tweet as “controversial” followed by despair via the data of what might come in the next two weeks:
EDWIN PITTI, UNIVISION: That’s right, good morning. This morning President Donald Trump sent two tweets that have, of course, caused controversy. The first, that America is very strong and second, that he sees light at the end of the tunnel- the same thing he said at yesterday’s White House press conference in total contrast to the reality put forth by his own health experts. Among them, Surgeon General Jerome Adams who has said that what happens in the coming days in the United States could be disturbing and catastrophic- in reference to the increase in deaths resulting from the coronavirus pandemic. Experts say that there could in fact be over 1,000 deaths a day, something that is of concern to authorities, specifically, in the White House. Dr. Anthony Fauci took the opportunity to criticize governors who have not signed a stay-at-home order. He states that people still need to comply with social distancing measures because that alone will be of great assistance to the experts. That’s my report from Washington, back to you.
The experts mentioned by Pitti never claimed to disagree with Donald Trump’s quote, in fact, Dr. Anthony Fauci is against the media putting him against the President, claiming that “there is a much bigger problem.”
How can it be possible for a news outlet to attack a president just for trying to give his people a small glimmer of hope in the midst of a global pandemic? The answer seems clear when the goal is to press an agenda rather than inform an audience; if it comes from this president, a glimmer of hope is something to be destroyed.
