You’re fired! That’s not only a famous shout from Donald Trump’s TV celebrity days, it’s a sentence that woke Twitter employees are hearing in increasing numbers as Elon Musk takes over the platform. And The Washington Post is furious.
In the article “Musk’s Trump-style management rattles Twitter workers awaiting layoffs,” The Washington Post whined about the scraps of gossip Twitter employees have collected to discover if massive layoffs are indeed imminent.
“Workers follow new boss’s tweets and share rumors on anonymous apps amid silence from leadership on firings, staff cuts and product changes,” The Post reported. Twitter employees have reportedly started panicking about reductions in force based on the Google Calendar of “one of their new bosses” as well as through Slack chats and anonymous workplace “gossip” site Blind.
Woke pro-censorship Twitter employees were Blind, indeed, when they targeted any alternative voices on the platform.
The rumor was that Tesla CEO and new Twitter owner Elon Musk would lay off half the staff on Friday, and eliminate virtual jobs. Musk did in fact fire half of Twitter’s staff Friday, according to The New York Times. But The Post said Twitter employees claim they “have not received a single official communication from anyone in a leadership position at the company” since the closure of Musk’s acquisition.
Pre-Musk, Twitter was “famously relaxed” and had an “open corporate culture,” The Post alleged, but apparently not anymore. “Mass trauma event over here,” one employee whined, according to The Post.
Another employee supposedly claimed, “‘We’re all working for the Trump White House.” The Post said the employee was referring to Musk’s new policies supposedly being akin to Trump’s tweets that “could come at any time” about national policies “that hadn’t been discussed internally.”
In addition to Twitter's firings, Facebook plans to lay off "many thousands of employees" starting this week, with an announcement slated to come as early as Wednesday, according to a report Monday by The Wall Street Journal.
The Post claimed that “rage firings” at Musk’s companies are not unusual. While The Post totally ignored Musk’s efforts to clear Twitter of anti-free-speech employees to ease the censorship by the platform, Musk’s Tesla plant in Shanghai found itself in a scandal this year due to reportedly harsh and inhumane conditions imposed on employees.
Some Twitter employees have nothing to do while others have been on “tight deadlines” to produce new products, including a rumored paid video feature, The Post said. Twitter employees communicate on Blind now because the anonymous site allows them to avoid punishment, The Post squealed.
Last week, The Post penned a list of alternatives to Twitter following Musk’s takeover.
