Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) vowed to hold Big Tech and government accountable for censorship collusion. “I anticipate multiple hearings,” he said.

Jordan appeared on the Just the News, No Noise Tuesday where he cited the Twitter Files. Jordan explained that the House Judiciary Committee plans to investigate how the FBI and other government agencies pressured tech platforms to censor users.

“When government’s involved in pressuring and working with the private sector to keep information from the American people, we believe that's a direct attack on the First Amendment,” Jordan explained. “This is something we will definitely look into in the Judiciary Committee.”

The institutions involved in violating First Amendment rights must be held accountable, according to Jordan.

“I think we will have hearings on that issue. I anticipate multiple hearings,” Jordan stated. “Each batch of those Twitter files — I think there's a hearing there on what took place, and how government was pressuring the private sector, working with the private sector to limit the information of the American people.”

Jordan referred to the fact that the intelligence community knew about Hunter Biden's laptop scandal months before the New York Post story broke; yet, it primed Twitter to censor the story just before the election. The intelligence agencies tried “to mold and shape the narrative” to “influence that [2020] election,” he said. Jordan cited a poll conducted by the Media Research Center which showed that Big Tech’s censorship of the scandal helped steal the election for Joe Biden.

“It’s not supposed to work that way in this great country,” Jordan added. He slammed FBI interference in elections; “Just stay out of it, let we the people decide.”

The Twitter Files, which confirmed FBI interference, were released by CEO Elon Musk and reported by independent journalists. The Files uncovered that the FBI pressured Twitter to censor content and demanded access to private data. They also showed that the platform collaborated with other government entities, including the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the Pentagon (DOD) and even the White House.

An ongoing lawsuit similarly produced documentation released as The Facebook Files last week. The new documentation showed that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) had a significant influence over COVID-19 censorship decisions at Facebook and Instagram.
