Seth Dillon, CEO of The Babylon Bee, explained why the satire site’s account was still locked. Twitter locked the account after The Bee posted that Rachel Levine was the site’s “Man of the Year.” Levine is a biological male that is being presented as a "transgender woman."
The account was suspended for “hateful conduct.”
“I just received this notice that we’ve been locked out of our account for ‘hateful conduct,’” Dillon tweeted when the account was locked.
A message from Twitter read: “You may not promote violence against, threaten, or harass other people on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, disability, or serious disease.”
Twitter said the 12-hour suspension would count down only after the site deletes the tweet. “We're told our account will be restored in 12 hours, but the countdown won't begin until we delete the tweet that violates the Twitter Rules,” Dillon added.
The account has not been restored. Dillon told his followers Thursday that the site has not deleted the tweet and so the account remains locked.
“People are asking if I deleted the Rachel Levine tweet because it appears that our account has been restored,” he tweeted. “To be clear, our account was never taken down; it's just locked until we delete the "violative" tweet. We haven't deleted the tweet, so the account remains locked.”
Prominent accounts that defended The Bee were locked out of their accounts as well.
“By the way, @Adam4d is still locked out of his account, too,” Dillon added. “Same with @TuckerCarlson and @charliekirk11.”
At the time of the suspension, The Bee’s account had 1.3 million followers.
