CNN Clarifies Gender/Sex Claim with More Activist Doublespeak

As MRCC reported March 31, CNN.com is posting trans activist PR as fact. Facing backlash from the reality-based community, CNN revised the articles to “provide additional explanation as to the distinctions between gender and sex.” Nice of them to condescend to explain to the rest of us, isn’t it?

This week, CNN.com posted two articles in which they recycled the same line verbatim regarding biological sex. A March 29 article written by contributor Lauren Holt said “But it's not possible to know a person's gender identity at birth, and there is no consensus criteria for assigning sex at birth.” Another article authored by Devan Cole on March 30 regurgitated the same line “It is not possible to know a person’s gender identity at birth, and there is no consensus criteria for assigning sex at birth.”

These identical claims were put forth as fact by CNN, without qualification or attribution. Just trans activist dogma. Called out on the ridiculous (and journalistically unethical claim) the best CNN.com could do was go back to the well for more activist doublespeak.

The corrections added to both articles were as follows:

While sex is a category that refers broadly to physiology, a person's gender is an innate sense of identity. The factors that go into determining the sex listed on a person's birth certificate may include anatomy, genetics and hormones, and there is broad natural variation in each of these categories. For this reason, the language of "biological sex," as used in this legislation, can be overly simplistic and misleading.

In Cole’s piece a blurb was added to proceed the correction which specified, “The orders also reference "biological sex," a disputed term that refers to the sex as listed on students' original birth certificates. It's not possible to know a person's gender identity at birth, and for some people, the sex listed on their original birth certificate is a misleading way of describing the body they have.”

No, really it isn’t. CNN and it’s “news” writers can’t wish biology away, and they shouldn’t be allowed to get away with pretending it doesn’t exist.
