Saturday, August 12, the city of Austin, Texas is putting on its 31st annual Austin Pride Parade and Festival. As a counter to the anti-American event, the Independent Women’s Network (IWN) planned an event to give women the opportunity to speak on their lived experiences of how the alphabet mob has affected them.
If the Austin Pride event is anything like last year, it’s likely to push indoctrinating content, display raunchy costumes and numerous examples of pro-LGBTQ propaganda. This year the Austin Independent School District (ISD) encouraged its students to attend the event. As a matter of fact, the district even offered a free shuttle service for students, staff and their families to get to and from the nighttime parade in Austin. The same district also plans to pass out a number of ISD Pride t-shirts.
Obviously, this event is just another push for the indoctrination and brainwashing of people, in particular, children of Austin.
IWN, which seeks to “give women the opportunity to share their opinions and lived experiences, while advocating for women’s rights and sex-based protections,” planned an event near the Austin Capitol for 7:00 p.m. Saturday.
While the event was set up to establish equal footing and the opportunity for other voices to be heard, the leftist media had other plans. Eventbrite, a ticketing website, erased the listing of the “Let Women Speak Austin” event.
According to Free Speech America's CensorTrack Database, the event was canceled.
“We have determined that your event is not permitted on the Eventbrite platform as it violates our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service, specifically our policy on Hateful, Dangerous, or Violent Content and Events,” Eventbrite told the organization in an email. “As a result, your event has been unpublished. Please be aware that severe or repeated violations of our guidelines may result in the suspension or termination of your Eventbrite account.”
In response, IWN’s Austin Chapter Leader, Michelle Evans, responded by saying, “Eventbrite’s team of Trust and Safety experts politely communicated to me that they were capitulating to the trans ideologues, the loud minority who are perpetually offended by women speaking out against their intrusion into our sports and private spaces. A simple demand — Let Women Speak — has been intentionally misrepresented by Eventbrite as hate speech.”
“The idea of adult human females gathering in the public square to openly discuss sex-based rights has been deemed by the ticketing platform to be a danger to society and worthy of cancellation," she added.
Presently, the Eventbrite page for the event is still down and therefore, word about the event was and is still suppressed. Luckily, however, IWN plans to proceed with their event to give women a chance to stand up for their beliefs and rights.
“We have chosen our rally location so that we can direct our stories and experiences not only to Texas’ elected officials, but also offer an alternative to Austin PRIDE that is womens-centered, an antidote to a movement that has embraced radical gender identity ideology and the erasure of womanhood,” Evans added, according to an email sent to the Media Research Center from Independent Women's Forum (IWF).
Despite Eventbrite’s pushback, felt empowered to continue on with the event.
In the same email, detransitioner and a storyteller for the IWF, Prisha Mosley reportedly said, “I'm excited to go to a Let Women Speak event not only to share my experience, but to listen to others speak of theirs. Women make powerful people, especially when we band together. I hope that anyone ‘on the other side’ who might hear something can learn a message of self acceptance: No one is born in the wrong body.”
Time will tell which event gets more attendees but it’s nice to see that despite censorship, the IWN is standing firm in their undeniable right to free speech by carrying on with their own event.
