This is a great pro-life message.
A baby girl was born under the rubble of her family’s home in Syria after the 7.8 magnitude earthquakes devastated the area.
Aya, which is Arabic for “a sign from God,” was found by rescue workers after the earthquake hit Turkey and Syria last week. She was still attached to her mother’s umbilical cord and was rushed to the nearby hospital, where she's been ever since. Aya’s mother died after giving birth, along with Aya's father and four siblings.
Thankfully, AP News reports she’s in good health.
The story has gotten so much publicity, policemen are standing guard at the hospital turning away people who may attempt to kidnap Aya by falsely claiming to be relatives. Luckily, Aya’s paternal aunt and uncle plan to raise her once she’s discharged from the hospital.
In terms of her health, the hospital director said, “We have stopped all the medicines that we were giving Aya and now she is being breast-fed when she needs," adding she's being fed by the hospital director’s wife and is expected to leave this week.
Aya's story is sharply contrasted with the way millions of babies are treated every year in the United States. While Aya's health and safety were made a top priority following her amazing rescue, in the U.S., people are leaving their newborns next to dumpsters and burning them alive. And while Aya was given all the medical attention and care she needed, even to the point of being breastfed by a stranger and guarded by police, in the U.S., women and doctors abort babies on the daily and dump their remains in the garbage or down a toilet.
Aya really is a “sign from God,” and all the people who rallied around her in this massive time of need show just how valuable her life is, as it should be.
The hope is that the U.S. uses this as an example and starts recognizing the intrinsic value of the life of a child so that abortion can become not only illegal, but unthinkable.
