North Carolina City Targets Pro-Life Protestors, Loses Lawsuit

Think back to 2020. It's the height of the Covid panic. You can't go to a bar or visit Grandma in the nursing home. But when George Floyd rioters emerge to torch convenience stores and loot Targets, the lefty media, politicians and even some politicized medical groups say it's more important for them to protest injustice than to observe lockdown and social distancing dictates.

You know who didn't get the same deference? Pro-lifers.

Numerous protestors for the pro-life group Love Life were arrested back in spring of 2020 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Just recently, a lawsuit settlement indicated that the arrests violated the First Amendment free speech rights of the protestors.

Pro-lifers visited an abortion facility to pray and offer sidewalk counseling, The Carolina Journal reported. Though they were outside and undoubtedly practicing social distancing (you know, when everyone thought that did something) they were arrested over COVID-19 precaution.

According to the group Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), which filed a lawsuit on the protestors behalf, Love Life “ensured that, at all times, fewer than 10 individuals were present in [the] group, that they were spaced at least six feet apart, and that they were equipped with sanitizer, as required by the social distancing provisions of the proclamation.”

So there was less worry about the spread of Coronavirus outside the abortion facility than at a Walmart. Even so, they were arrested.

Luckily, thanks to ADF, Greensboro city admitted that the protestors were segregated based on their “exercise of constitutionally protected First Amendment rights.” The city agreed to pay $15,000 toward the protesters’ attorneys’ fees.

It’s fair to assume that the protestors were only “in trouble” because they were pro-lifers. I bet that if they were pro-abortionists outside of a pregnancy resource center, no authorities or their powers that be would have blinked an eye.

ADF senior counsel Denise Harle pointed out that undeniable bias and double standard set forth against the pro-life protestors.

According to Greensboro officials, praying while walking was not allowed because of COVID-19. Clearly, this case was never about public health and safety; it was about the government silencing people because it didn’t like what they had to say,” Harle said. “That said, we commend the city for finally agreeing to respect the free speech rights of Love Life members and acknowledge their freedom to pray and speak in the public square, just like every other citizen’s.

While this story happened earlier in the chaotic political landscape that is our nation today, the bias against pro-lifers is an omnipresent issue.

Recently The Daily Signal pointed out the FBI has biasedly targeted numerous pro-life protestors, even raiding their homes and arresting them, but have done nothing  to reprimand the crime against churches and pregnancy centers that are pro-life.

It's a shame that there's such a negative bias against people that really just want unborn babies to have value and the right to life but, that's just what leftist America wants.
