The 96th Academy Awards got political, again, in all of the most predictable ways. Starting with host Jimmy Kimmel’s lame jokes at the expense of Republicans, the amount of woke movies and Hollywood stars nominated, and political statements via lapel pins.
Just a few minutes into the show, Kimmel launched an attack on Alabama Sen. Katie Britt (R) for her rebuttal to President Joe Biden’s recent State of the Union address.
He tied nominee Emma Stone’s character from the movie “Poor Things” to the senator saying, “Emma played an adult woman with the brain of a child, like the lady who gave the rebuttal to the State of the Union on Thursday night,” he said. “And you were just amazing.”
Kimmel: Emma stone is an Oscar nominee for a fifth time. And Emma, you are -- you are so unbelievably great in "Poor Things," –– Emma played an adult woman with the brain of a child, like the lady who gave the rebuttal to the State of the Union on Thursday night. And -- [ applause ] And you are just amazing. There were so many great movies that held audiences captive this year. And I mean that literally. Your movies were too long this year.
Later towards the end of the show, Kimmel reads and reacts to former President Donald Trump’s criticism of him and the Oscars that was posted on Truth Social saying, “Thank you for watching. I’m surprised you’re still up. Isn’t it past your jail time?"
Kimmel: I was told we have an extra minute and I'm really proud of something, I was wondering if I could share it with you, I just got a review and -- has there ever been a worst host than Jimmy Kimmel at the Oscars? His opening with that of a less than average person trying to be something that he is not and never can be. Get rid of Kimmel and perhaps replace him with another washed up but cheap ABC talent, George slopinopulous. Blah, blah, blah, make America great again. Oh. Okay, now, see if you can guess which former president just posted that on Truth Social. Anyone? No? Well, thank you, President Trump. Thank you for watching, I'm
surprised you're still -- isn't it past your jail time? [ Applause ] He's focused on the important stuff, for sure.
Kimmel was clearly referencing the legal woes Trump is facing. The audience predictably gave him a roaring applause after the Trump dig.
In case you were wondering if he dished out any jabs towards democrats, the answer is no. And if you were wondering how many times Joe Biden’s name was mentioned, the answer is exactly zero times.
Funny how silent Hollywood is now, despite the amount of challenges our country is facing under his administration.
As for political fashion, several celebrities were spotted sporting a variety of lapel pins, including the promotion transgenderism for minors and pins in support of Palestine — which the BBC fully documented in an Oscars write-up.

As for the Israel-Hamas conflict, there was one mention of it during the awards show by Director Jonathan Glazer, which received some blowback on social media.

In the 1940s, the dehumanization of Jews led to the systematic mass murder of 6 million. In 2023, that same Jew hatred led to the mass murder of 1,200. It would have been many… pic.twitter.com/SFJxbkUSyU
Absent from the dozens of remarks made on stage by celebrities were harsh condemnations of the atrocities committed by Hamas terrorists on Israel on October 7, 2023.
Prior to the awards show, pro-Palestine protesters were outside blocking traffic, which caused the show to start several minutes behind schedule, according to reports.

And we can’t forget about former wrestler turned actor - and CCP apologist - John Cena streaking across the stage with only an envelope covering his junk.
It’s called "Hollyweird" for a reason.
