ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy season 19, episodes 19 & 20 closed out with more pro-abortion propaganda and climate change fear-mongering in between all the workplace romance storylines.
Pro-abortion storylines have been ongoing since the show’s return following a mid-season break, so it should come as no surprise that the writers would include a fictitious award to present to Dr. Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) over her involvement in abortion procedures and training.
Dr. Meredith Grey: Dr. Fox, in her infinite wisdom, has decided that this is the year to break the rules. For the first time ever, the award is going to go to a non-surgical project, even a non-nominee. We are in the midst of a national public health crisis in this country. I taught them. I taught them at my clinic. Right now, in more than half of our states, women are being forced to carry not only unwanted pregnancies, but unsafe pregnancies. They are legally prohibited from receiving care that protects not only their reproductive rights but their survival. And with these bans, doctors are no longer being trained in these procedures, life-saving procedures, that are used in more than just abortions. But there is one doctor who is trying to change all of that, one procedure at a time, one trainee at a time, whose groundbreaking work in protecting reproductive rights and training the next generation of doctors on how to perform reproductive care. Dr. Miranda Bailey, we would love to present you with the Catherine Fox Award for your significant contribution to medicine this year.
[ Applause ] Get up there. Go! [ Cheers and applause ]
Dr. Bailey: Oh, my God. Congratulations, and thank you.
The reality is that there are no laws on the books in any U.S. state that would prevent doctors from treating women in need of medical attention for life threatening situations. But, why let facts get in the way of a good narrative?
The show writers again failed to mention that only 17 states have so far moved to ban or to restrict abortion, while many blue states, like California, have actually moved to expand abortion access. And of course, there was no mention of the hundreds of thousands of innocent lives killed in the womb every year through abortion in the U.S. alone.
Meantime, the writers also clearly couldn’t resist closing out the season without a little climate change fear-mongering.
Dr. Nick Marsh (Scott Speedman) blames rough turbulence during a flight on "climate change," this of course while on board a private jet. (LOL)
Dr. Amelia Shepherd: Turbulence shouldn't last this long. We should go higher.
Dr. Winston Ndugu: Now you're telling the pilots what to do? That tracks.
Dr. Marsh: Well, it's, uh, global warming. Air currents colliding at high altitudes, making turbulence harder to predict. In case anyone cares. Whoa! You okay?
Dr. Amelia Shepherd: I'm so sorry. I'm fine.
The writers must have missed the irony and hypocrisy of this character whining about 'climate change' while flying private.
Talk about a total lack of self-awareness. It always seems like those who are the most concerned about ‘global warming’ always have access to private jets. Maybe their carbon footprints don’t count?
While this season is over, Grey's Anatomy will reportedly return for season 20. Hopefully with better story plots!
