After a few months’ hiatus, comedian Chelsea Handler plans to return to Netflix “louder and bolder” than ever. And if you’ve ever seen her show, you know that means more vile attacks on the right.
When Season 2 starts on Good Friday, Handler anticipates getting even more divisive. “We’re going to be doing a lot of political stuff because it’s just so much f—ing fun, isn’t it right now?” she explained to Entertainment Weekly.
Surprisingly, she’s actually reveling in elements of the Trump presidency… but not in the way you think.
“Watching this administration go down and fall apart at the seams is one of the most enjoyable times of my life,” she continued. “I kind of don’t want it to end too quickly, do you know what I’m saying?”
In her usual snarky way, the comedian debuted some hints for the upcoming episodes with 1950s-themed promo materials. Bustle’s Caitlin Flynn couldn’t contain her excitement about the “thought-provoking” ads, noting that she’d be “busy counting down the minutes until Season two.”
The trailer “Chelsea’s Tips for the Modern Host” reveals Handler dressed as a 1950s housewife, but shows her breaking every rule of that era, including “always be polite” and “speak like a lady.” The comedian’s promo posters feature her holding a can of worms, next to the tagline: “So easy, even a woman can open it.”
With her tongue-in-cheek jab at the perfect woman, you can bet Handler will be pushing her progressive outlook on women’s “rights” with renewed gusto in the coming weeks.
After all, when recalling her abortion of decades ago, the comedian actually laughed at the prospect that she would have had a grown, half-black child if she had kept the baby. See some of Handler’s most horrifying comments here.
