On Inauguration Day, a group of celebrities will perform a “love-a-thon” event to raise money for several progressive organizations.
If you’re too nauseated to watch President-elect Trump’s swearing in—never fear. Hollywood has your back. On January 20, a crowd of celebrities will descend on New York City for a “love-a-thon”—songs, skits and speeches to protest and push progressivism. Stars including Jane Fonda, Jamie Lee Curtis, Judd Apatow and Christopher Guest will speak and perform, CNN reported.
The event will aim to raise at least $500,000 for Planned Parenthood, Earth Justice and the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California.
Tech entrepreneur Alex Godin thought up the idea after hearing the devastating result of election night. "I woke up like a lot of Americans feeling pretty crappy on November 10," the 23-year-old explained to CNN. "I looked for an opportunity to do something."
So Godin reached out to experts in the tech and PR industry, and connected with celebs, who were all too eager to join in. And—here’s the best part—viewers like you can watch the event from the comfort of your own home! Just tune into Facebook Live at 12:30 pm for three solid hours of liberal counter-programming.
Inauguration weekend will be a busy time for the stars. After the “love-a-thon,” a group of them will travel to DC to participate in the Women’s March on Washington—an unfocused event that has received plenty of media coverage. Predictably, the protest patently excludes the voices of conservative women.
So much for diversity.
