Political analyst Kirsten Powers has some news for the Democratic Party: “It’s a baby!”
Powers is well known for her political spectrum-spanning views. She’s for same-sex marriage, but supportive of religious freedom. She’s a liberal, but also a Fox News fixture. However, in her recent USA Today column, Powers was simply a woman horrified by “the grotesque human rights abuses against unborn children by Planned Parenthood.”
“Democrats like to talk about the importance of being on the ‘right side of history,’” she wrote. But, in light of their reaction to the footage released by the Center for Medical Progress, Powers declared that they “have eschewed all concern for historical or moral rightness.”
Instead of viewing unborn children as the helpless ones, “many Democrats have incredibly cast an organization with a roughly $1.3 billion annual budget in the role of the innocent and defenseless.”
“The Democratic Party shilling for barbarism — whether by politicians, liberal media outlets, union officials or unrestricted abortion advocates — is not likely to be viewed favorably by future generations,” she wrote. “These Democrats will be remembered for demonizing the activists who lifted the veil on a previously sanitized process and for seeking restraining orders to silence truth tellers.”
Powers was sickened by the footage of Dr. Deborah Nucatola “prioritizing the abortion of a ‘17-weeker’ the day before because he or she was ‘more likely to yield what we needed.’” Thus, in her article, Powers asked: “Guess who supports second trimester abortions, barring extreme extenuating circumstances?” The answer? “Almost nobody.” Since 1996, less than 30 percent of survey respondents have declared support for the practice.
It isn’t the first time Powers has broken the liberal embargo on discussing abortion related atrocities. Two years ago, she was the first – and really the only – mainstream media voice to call out the media blackout on the trial of Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell, who is currently in prison for three counts of first degree murder, one of third degree murder, and a host of lesser convictions.
Powers concluded her piece by mentioning that Dr. Savita Ginde, a Planned Parenthood director featured in the footage, called the fetus a baby while picking through body parts. “Even the abortionist can see it’s a baby,” Powers confirmed. “So what’s wrong with the Democratic Party?”
