The liberal media boast close ties with Planned Parenthood, so it'll be interesting to see how they cover the abortion giant’s “quotas,” if at all.
On Tuesday, Live Action, a pro-life nonprofit, released a video in which a former Planned Parenthood employee admitted that clinics used incentives, such as pizza parties, as a “motivator” to meet abortion quotas. Yes, that’s right, abortion quotas.
Live Action President Lila Rose interviewed former Iowa Planned Parenthood manager Sue Thayer who admitted that “every center had a goal for how many abortions were done.” She added that clinics that didn’t perform enough abortions created “corrective action plans” to explain “why we didn’t hit the goal” and what “we’re going to do differently next time.”
Thayer also said she trained her staff the same way she was trained: “to really encourage women to choose abortion, to have it at Planned Parenthood because it counts towards our goal.” She said they “would have things like pizza parties” as rewards or even join upper management for lunch if they consistently met abortion quotas.
In the video, Rose also interviewed Marianne Anderson, a former Planned Parenthood nurse, who said that she felt like “more of a salesman” while talking to pregnant women about abortion. She also confirmed that she was “told on a regular basis that you have a quota to meet to keep this clinic open.”
In a press release, Rose exposed the hypocrisy of Planned Parenthood’s “quotas” and called for redirecting taxpayer-dollars from the organization to “ local health clinics that actually provide real care to women.
“Planned Parenthood doesn’t have quotas for adoptions. It doesn’t have quotas for prenatal care. But quotas for abortions? Absolutely,” said Rose. “Planned Parenthood makes a profit off women in the midst of their most difficult experiences and incentivizes its staff to take the lives of children in the womb with pizza parties, paid time off, and lunches with upper management.”
“Planned Parenthood’s Abortion Quotas” is the newest video by Live Action in their Abortion Corporation series, which documents how Planned Parenthood is “pushing profitable abortions, often at the expense of health care services for the women it claims to serve.” Another video in the same series recently exposed how Planned Parenthood uses ultrasounds almost exclusively for abortions. Live Action also shed light on how little Planned Parenthood does in terms parental care, but the liberal media have largely ignored this.
Since Jan. 24, the videos boast a combined 25 million views on Facebook. But that doesn’t mean the liberal media will cover them.
If they cover this latest one, it will be interesting to see if (or rather, how) they spin the news of abortion quotas, as they have done in the past while reporting on the abortion industry. While Planned Parenthood continually flaunts the misleading statistic that abortion consists of just 3% of its “services,” even the liberal Washington Post admits that this number is deceptive. But that hasn’t stopped NRP, CNN, and the Huffington Post from publishing stories defending Planned Parenthood’s ridiculous claim.
