If you’ve ever known someone with cancer, you probably remember pouring out your support after his or her diagnosis. Was politics on your mind as you put your pen to a sympathy card or picked up the phone to wish the person well? Probably not - you wanted your loved one to be the center of attention.
But the Left will not stop until politics is the center of every human issue, and comedian Trevor Noah of The Daily Show marched forward on that front at the “Fuck Cancer” gala in Los Angeles on Oct. 13.
Huffington Post reported that Noah began his gala performance with a heartfelt account of a conversation he once had with a cancer-stricken friend: “He said, ‘Trevor, cancer is, it’s a scary thing because they first tell you about it, you don’t believe it is happening. You know that it exists but you don’t ever believe it’s something that can happen to you.’” Endearing, right?

Not for long. Noah remembered that he told his friend “‘So, wow, cancer is Donald Trump.’” After that brazen politicization, Noah cycled through several awkward comparisons in the hope of eliciting laughs, one of them being “He’s a cancer that grows, and everyone’s like ‘Is it over? No, no, it’s back. Stronger than ever. Ok, well f*** it again …’” Noah rambled on, labeling the 45th president an “emotional paradox” for his ability to scare him and make him laugh at the same time, and soon the routine was entirely off topic.
Set aside the fact that Noah was using a charity gala as a platform to trumpet his politics. People in the crowd who were simply looking for some innocent laughs to lighten the burden of cancer, or the memory of someone who succumbed to it, were given an unwanted screed. What was offered at the gala was what leftist comedians always dish out -- jokes with a ideological paywall.
