Superbad: Director Judd Apatow Claims USA is a 'Dictatorship' at Golden Globes

Last night, stars at the 83rd annual Golden Globes on CBS ranted about American "dictatorship" and "mediocre white guys."

Even before the ceremony began, actors such as Mark Ruffalo, Wanda Sykes, and Jean Smart wore anti-ICE "Be Good" pins. The pins were a reference to left-wing agitator Renee Good who tried to run over an ICE agent with her car in Minneapolis before being shot.

On the red carpet, Hacks star Jean Smart proved she was one in real life with an incoherent political rant, telling Entertainment Tonight‘s Kevin Frazier: “Everything is a bit overshadowed with what is going on in our country. I feel like we are kind of at a turning point in this country, and I hope people can keep their heads. Because that actually is going to be the hardest thing is to keep our heads, because that is going to take a lot of courage and a lot of restraint.”

Other celebrities repeated similar fear-mongering throughout the night. Director Judd Apatow slipped in a reference to "dictatorship" during an unrelated monologue about losing an award to Ridley Scott for The Martian a decade ago.

Apatow: But that's water under the bridge. A lot has happened since then. That was ten years ago. Since then we've had Covid. I believe we are a dictatorship now. I'm still pretty focused on this Martian thing. I got to be honest with you.

Whenever the left's presidential candidate loses an election, it means "the end of democracy" and "dictatorship."

Golden Globes host Nikki Glaser did not catastrophize like Apatow, though she did take some political pot shots during her opening monologue.

Glaser: So many A-listers -- and by A-listers, I mean people who are on "A list" that has been heavily redacted. [Laughter] Yes. And the Golden Globe for Best Editing goes to the Justice Department. Yes. Congratulations. And the award for most editing goes to CBS News. Yes, CBS News: America’s newest place to see B.S. News.

The left is angry at CBS News for hiring Bari Weiss as its new Editor-in-Chief. Weiss' criticisms of legacy media make her an enemy in the eyes of many Democrats. As for the Epstein files, it is hard to believe that Hollywood of all places suddenly cares about prosecuting pedophilia.

Later in the evening, unfunny "comedian" Wanda Sykes mocked "mediocre white guys" while presenting the award for Best Performance in Stand‑Up Comedy on Television. She then insulted nominee Bill Maher, who has sometimes criticized woke leftists on his show.

Sykes: And shout out to the Golden Globes for having me, because you know there are some people pissed off that a queer black woman is up here doing the job of two mediocre white guys, I'm presenting the award for stand-up comedy on television, but first I want to give them some love. Bill Maher—you give us so much. But I would love a little less. Just try less.

Ricky Gervais won the category for which Sykes was presenting. Gervais, who famously roasted woke Hollywood at the Golden Globes in 2020, did not attend this year. Accepting the award on Gervais' behalf, Sykes thanked "God and trans people." Gervais is an atheist who is outspoken about the right of comedians to make transgender jokes.

Overall, the 83rd annual Golden Globes was obnoxious, pretentious and tiresome. Few of the actors had any real star power or charisma. Hollywood's golden era is long gone, but its clueless celebrities still think they have cultural power to lecture audiences. Instead, they push the public further away.
