Hollywood Heroes: Golden Globes to Feature Plant-Based Menu to ‘Save the Planet’

Hollywood just found another way to lecture us about global warming while patting themselves on the back! Along with acceptance speeches that will no doubt feature political screeds, the Golden Globes will be sending America a message with its vegan dinner menu this year.

The film and television awards show, which has guests seated at tables for a meal, will go meatless for its 77th annual event to “raise environmental awareness about food consumption and waste.”

They’re so proud of themselves for this, they’re practically gushing! Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) President Lorenzo Soria declared,

“If there’s a way we can, not change the world, but save the planet, maybe we can get the Golden Globes to send a signal and draw attention to the issue about climate change. The food we eat, the way we grow the food we eat, the way we dispose of the food is one of the large contributors to the climate crisis.”

What would we do without their shining example?

Adding to the excitement is the fact that they only came up with the idea a few weeks before the event! Beverly Hilton executive chef Matthew Morgan, who concocted the menu, swooped in to save the day: “It was a little shocking when first mentioned, because of being very close to the actual Globes and having already decided on a menu. But once we thought about it and the message that it sent, we were really excited about it. That’s something I stand behind myself.” What a hero! Captain Planet to the rescue!

Soria added to the dramatics:

“People were basically saying it’s too late, we’re ready with all the orders, the holidays and all that. But after we began discussions, meeting for one or two days, [the hotel] accepted the change completely. They started to experiment with how to do plant-based meals that was not just their symbolic steps, but also something that guests will enjoy.”

Now that’s a Hollywood ending!

On the menu: a chilled golden beet soup and king oyster mushrooms scallops and wild mushroom risotto, along with roasted baby purple and green Brussels sprouts and carrots. The lengths celebrities will go to save us from ourselves is truly astonishing and inspirational!
