Florida Teen Charged With a Felony For Leaving Tire Marks on 'Pride' Mural

Another teenager has been arrested and charged with a crime for - and lemme make sure I'm getting this right here - leaving tire marks on some asphalt painted with a spangly rainbow “Pride” mural.

Christian Maier, 18, was picked up by the cops Monday for allegedly doing burnouts on a rainbow-bedecked crosswalk at an intersection in St. Petersburg, Florida on May 22. For the crime of leaving tire marks on the street, he’s now facing two charges for felony criminal mischief and racing on a street. Police said they raised the crime from a misdemeanor to a felony - a felony - because it cost more than $1,000 to repaint the mural in time for the city's debauched "Pride Month" festivities.

Which - for the forty-‘leventh time - is painted on the freaking asphalt.

It’s a bit ironic, would you not say, that a city so concerned with how much it cost to repair a gay pride mural is willing to expend significant time, energy, and taxpayer money to track down, arrest, jail, and prosecute the guy who did it, all while diverting those resources from solving oh, I don’t know, actual crimes.

Almost makes you wonder if they paint these stupid things on the road for a reason.

Unfortunately, this insanity has spread far and wide beyond St. Petersburg. Three teens in Spokane, Washington, were arrested last month for leaving skid marks on a giant rainbow mural painted on a crosswalk. Hilariously, the kids weren’t even doing illegal burnouts in cars to make the lines - they used scooters.

Hardened, dangerous criminals we've got here.
