Trump: Pelosi Should Have Impeached Bush

     Financial legend Donald Trump, in an interview by CNN’s Wolf Blitzer on the Oct. 15 “The Situation Room,” expressed his disappointment House Speaker Nancy Pelosi didn’t move to impeach President George W. Bush.

 

     “[I] was surprised that she didn’t do more in terms of Bush and going after Bush,” Trump said. “It was almost – it just seemed like she was going to really look to impeach Bush and get him out of office – which personally I think would have been a wonderful thing.”

 

     Trump said Bush’s handling of the Iraq war was an impeachable offense – claiming Bush intentionally “lied,” which was much more unacceptable than the events that led to the impeachment of former President Bill Clinton. However, he insisted Bush had little to do with the current economic crisis.

 

     But this isn’t necessarily a case of partisan politics since Trump is siding with the Republican presidential candidate this election. On CNN’s Sept. 17 “Larry King Live,” Trump endorsed Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain, Ariz. One of the reasons the real estate tycoon chose McCain is he said he thought McCain was a brilliant and tough guy and said he thought he had the ability to “persuade” OPEC to lower oil prices.

 

     “Well, I think that if you look at experience and if you look at lots of other factors,” Trump said on CNN’s Sept. 30 “American Morning.” “But I also happen to know him, he’s a brilliant guy, he’s a tough guy, he’s a strong guy and we need that. In particular, we need that with respect to OPEC. We need somebody to go over to OPEC and explain – and they don’t even have to go over, frankly – and explain exactly what’s going on. You know, if you have a store and I have a store and we set prices and we fix prices, I will tell you that we all get put in jail.”

 

     During the Blitzer interview, Trump also pledged his support for GOP vice presidential nominee Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin – who he said would be strong on economic issues.

 

     “I can only go by the people of Alaska. She’s got the highest rating in the whole United States, as being the most popular governor,” Trump said. “[S]arah Palin has very, very high approval rating – 84 or 85 percent.

 

     He told Blitzer he met Palin at a fundraiser for McCain in New York City and said he would trust her if she were in charge of the frail economy.

 

     “I met her recently – I was very impressed with her,” Trump said. “The people of Alaska, who are really the people that know her – they think she’s fantastic. Again, she’s the highest rated in the United States. I would trust her.”

 

     Trump, who once forecasted an economic Depression on Blitzer, admitted he was wrong and ruled out an economic Depression, although he made the prediction two years ago.

 

     “I mentioned that as a possibility two years ago on your show,” Trump said. “I don’t think so, but certainly it’s not good times.”
