MRC's Dan Gainor Blasts Media: 'Worse' Than 'Before the Election'

As traditional media continue to disparage President-elect Donald Trump’s every move, MRC Vice President for Business and Culture Dan Gainor mocked the hate fest. “The American media have so lost their moorings since the post-election. They’re even worse than they were before the election,” he argued.

Gainor sat down with Trish Regan on Fox Business Network’s Intelligence Report on December 5 to talk about how the major media want “to depict everything he’s [Trump] doing as crazy.” While Regan accused the media of “overreacting,” Gainor explained that not only do they dislike that Trump is president, but “they hate his use of Twitter as well.”

The two discussed the media’s campaign against Trump, beginning with attacks on his phone call with Taiwan’s democratically elected leader. Gainor also pointed out that President Obama’s choice of Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State was hailed as a “unity” move, yet Trump’s consideration of Romney and other past contenders is a “bad choice.”

Gainor explained, “There’s absolutely nothing that Trump can do except resign and hand over the job to Hillary Clinton that would make the media happy with him.”

The media are also angry about Trump’s “Twitter in general.” Gainor’s own research showed that “25 percent of his tweets have been critical attacks on the media.” Since the media won’t change, he has to keep tweeting, he added.

Regan offered, the “advantage of Twitter is he can take his message directly to the people in the words and ways that he wants to do so.”

Trump is in a “damned if you do and damned if you don’t and damned if you even consider another option scenario,” according to Gainor, so he’s using Twitter to say, “to heck with the media.” Regan agreed, “That’s kind of all you can do in an environment like that.”
