Since the 2016 presidential election, the media have doubled down in their efforts to undermine president-elect Donald Trump.
On Fox Business Network’s Lou Dobbs Tonight on November 17, MRC Vice President for Business and Culture Dan Gainor slammed the media for trying to “take down” Trump’s nominees in order to “defeat his administration.”
Dobbs scolded the left-wing media’s “vicious attacks” and “absolutely disastrous coverage” of Steve Bannon’s nomination, while overlooking the controversies surrounding Minnesota congressman Keith Ellison, who is vying for head of the DNC.
According to Gainor, the media have ignored Ellison’s “hefty bag of controversies” which include “attacks on Israel,” “ties to the Muslim Brotherhood” and “linking 9/11 to the Reichstag fire.”
Dobbs displayed an MRC study showing that the broadcast networks spent 41 minutes and 46 seconds covering Bannon. Seventy-four percent of the coverage was negative. In contrast, the networks covered Ellison almost 20 times less (2 minutes and 9 seconds) without any negative coverage.
Dobbs also pointed out that Trump is “hitting back” against the media on Twitter.
Gainor agreed, and said, “He’s doing something that the media don’t like.” “He’s using Twitter exactly the same way that FDR used radio.” According to Gainor, Trump is “disintermediating the media,” and “removing them from the equation” by speaking “right to his audience” through Twitter.
