Friday's adoring Associated Press piece concerning Nobel Laureate Al Gore's noble decision to take the train from the Oslo airport rather than the traditional motorcade to his hotel neglected something else besides the huge amount of carbon dioxide being emitted by the Global Warmingist-in-Chief: his luggage!
After all, Gore and wife Tipper aren't going to wear the same clothes this entire trip they wore on the plane, right?
So, where was all their baggage as the couple took the train?
Well, according to the Norwegian website VG Nett, Gore's luggage went by Mercedes van (h/t NB reader in Norway Trond Ruud who supplied the following translation):
Headline: Here the climate conscious Al Gore takes the public train, but his luggage is transported in a MercedesPicture caption: Peace Prize laureate Al Gore and his wife Tipper are having a nice trip on the airport express train. On the motorway, their luggage is being whisked to Oslo in a Mercedes van.Together with the Leader of the Nobel Institute, Geir Lundestad and the Nobel Committee Leader, Ole Danbolt Mjoes, they took the Airport Express train from Gardermoen airport to the National Theatre station in Oslo.Never before, has a Peace Prize laureate chosen this mode of travel.I was told that the Express Train, was both faster and more comfortable, so it was an easy choice. And trains are symbols of environmental consciousness, a vigourous Gore, told the press corps.Much LuggageLeader of the Nobel Ceremony arrangements, Sigrid Langebrekke from the Norwegian Nobel Institute, said they had to use a Mercedes van to handle all the luggage. She says, that all cars being used during the Nobel Ceremony have high environmental standard.
Do you think his luggage bought carbon credits to offset the greenhouse gases emitted on the trip from the airport?
Honestly, would it have been too much like journalism for the AP to inquire about where Gore's luggage was, or might that have interfered with the agenda?

In Honor of the Norski's
Sat, 12/08/2007 - 13:36 ET by Lame CherryIn honor of every Ole and Lena joke that comes out of North Dakota by Norwegians, Al Gore and the Nobel committee of comrades has become and even bigger joke.
I could just hear Al Gore say, "Tipper dieser Nobel Preis ist nicht wert das müssen in diesen zug
reiten! Sie haben nicht sogar abgefüllt wasser noch champagner, um
meine Füße zu waschen!"
Translation, No bottled water on these public transporation trains and no champagne to wash my feet.
I do laugh though in how their gas guzzling cars are "eco friendly". They must have eco friendly Airbuses guzzling thousands of gallons of fuel an hour, eco friendly complexes draining power grids and eco friendly.......caviar, champagne, truffles.............the truffles are dug by pigs which do not fart I suppose the Nobel chickie baby will tell the press.
Oh well, Al Gore is done slumming now..........will be a few months off eating goose liver and 60 year old wine coming off on tax deductions.......then it will be on to the Democrat Convention when just like Tim Johnson he will by miracle annouce, "Yes I accept your super delegate begging to save the party from Hillary.....and I will run."
I would love the Nobel comrades to give me the prize.........for my environmental research and frequency study and for solving the Combined Theory, Einstein was limited in looking only in this dimension when he should have been looking at the God dimension for this one is consumptive and only a mirror reflection in part of the original........so the algebraic physical quantum physics solution to make it law is L = L or light equals light in God's combined definition of what the frequency relates, or, regeneration = regeneration.
Einstein did not factor in the genesis light at the beginning of every creation when moulded by God's Thought (Jesus) it transforms into anything or anyone He wills.
Oh well I will just have to save for a Ruger Ranch Rifle as my saddle came yesterday since the Nobel will not be spreading me genius multiple prizes this season. agtG

Funny, I always thought of trains as symbols, if anything, of the industrial revolution that caused all the greenhouse emmissions he claims to be concerned about.

Sat, 12/08/2007 - 16:43 ET by red_dragon311I never understood that either.....so instead of trying to solve the problem, and emit less noxious gases, you can buy "carbon credits" ????

It doesn't. Carbon credits/offsets is one of the biggest cons in the history of the planet. Honestly, I can think of no larger fraud supported by media in my lifetime. Nothing's close. Yet, because Gore thinks it's a viable solution, the idiots in the press and most on the left actually buy into it.
Journalists and politicians should be ashamed of themselves for either wittingly participating in this fraud, or being so addle-minded that they can't see through it. ns
All "carbon credits" means
Sat, 12/08/2007 - 17:07 ET by motherbeltAll "carbon credits" means is that the wealthy get to use all the energy they want, because they can afford to pay a "surtax" on it. Makes them feel superior.
The rest of us, the plebes, will have to use less, because we can't afford the "surtax."
That's all it is....a guilt offset.
The same thing could be accomplished by law if every K/Hr of electricity, every gallon of gas, every bit of coal or natural gas (over a certain "allowable" usage level) had a "surtax" on it. Same result: the wealthy, like Gore, would pay the surtax and use all they want, the rest would have to stay within the limits.

Sat, 12/08/2007 - 21:17 ET by motherbeltI never said it would be invested in planting trees.
Frankly I don't care what it's invested in. The fact is that the wealthy use as much energy as they want, and buy "offsets" to salve their consciences. They convince themselves that they are actually doing more good that way.
If Algore and his rich buddies really believed in the global warmning crisis, they would greatly reduce their energy usage (like maybe Algore would have built a house only half as big) ON PRINCIPLE. Nevermind buying "offsets."
so it comes full circle,
Sat, 12/08/2007 - 22:07 ET by red_dragon311so it comes full circle, Edwards' 2 Americas, the ones that can pay for the credits and use and waste all they want and then "us"

Sat, 12/08/2007 - 20:53 ET by acumenso this is just rich people being able to buy their way out of a problem.
A concocted problem. I have seen nothing, nada, zilch to convince me that humans are contributing one iota to any macro climate change that has any conceivable drastic negative effect on the planet as expressed by Gorebots.
Certainly we should all be good stewards of the gifts God gave us but not at the cost of abandoning common sense. (not to mention wasting gazillions of tax dollars and holding developing countries back from using their natural resources to provide a better way of life)

Sun, 12/09/2007 - 13:36 ET by Clear thinkermother... Then we need to start a non-profit that can offer carbon credits at deeply discounted rates so that everyone can belay their guilt.
