Weather Channel Founder: Global Warming ‘Greatest Scam in History’

If the founder of The Weather Channel spoke out strongly against the manmade global warming myth, might media members notice?

We're going to find out the answer to that question soon, for John Coleman wrote an article published at ICECAP Wednesday that should certainly garner attention from press members -- assuming journalism hasn't been completely replaced by propagandist activism, that is.

Coleman marvelously began (emphasis added, h/t NB reader coffee250):

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

It is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it. Global Warming; It is a SCAM. Some dastardly scientists with environmental and political motives manipulated long term scientific data to create in [sic] allusion of rapid global warming. Other scientists of the same environmental whacko type jumped into the circle to support and broaden the "research" to further enhance the totally slanted, bogus global warming claims. Their friends in government steered huge research grants their way to keep the movement going. Soon they claimed to be a consensus.

Environmental extremists, notable politicians among them, then teamed up with movie, media and other liberal, environmentalist journalists to create this wild "scientific" scenario of the civilization threatening environmental consequences from Global Warming unless we adhere to their radical agenda. Now their ridiculous manipulated science has been accepted as fact and become a cornerstone issue for CNN, CBS, NBC, the Democratic Political Party, the Governor of California, school teachers and, in many cases, well informed but very gullible environmental conscientious citizens. Only one reporter at ABC has been allowed to counter the Global Warming frenzy with one 15 minutes documentary segment.

[...]

I have read dozens of scientific papers. I have talked with numerous scientists. I have studied. I have thought about it. I know I am correct. There is no run away climate change. The impact of humans on climate is not catastrophic. Our planet is not in peril. I am incensed by the incredible media glamour, the politically correct silliness and rude dismissal of counter arguments by the high priest of Global Warming.

In time, a decade or two, the outrageous scam will be obvious.

Let's hope so, John; let's hope so.

My new hero

I have a new hero.  May your tribe increase, Mr. Coleman.  It must gall him that TWC has sold out to this stupid fantasy, even devoting a weekly show to pushing Global Warming.

FYI, here's his bio from KUSI-TV in San Diego, where he holds his "retirement job".

When you put the clowns in charge, don't be surprised when a circus breaks out.

Bad Guys

It must gall him that TWC has sold out to this stupid fantasy, even devoting a weekly show to pushing Global Warming.

"The Weather Channel on cable. That's my baby", Coleman says. "The bad guys took it away from me, but they can't steal the fact that it was my idea and I started it and ran it for the first year. I put everything I had into making TWC the success it is."

Coleman was also the weatherman on ABC's Good Morning America for seven years.  It will be interesting to see if Mr. Coleman's former employer GMA/ABC pick up this story about Coleman's distancing himself from any supposed "climate crisis."  I'm betting they won't - The "bad guys" have taken over that operation as well.

John Coleman makes a mistake

Mr. Coleman makes a mistake in not considering the sun is in a state of fluctuation. While he is correct on the scam of global warming being exposed as a fraud, the sun in this period is destined to do what yellow dwarf stars do as our's is destined to do in literally scorching the earth.

There is a reason the Bible predicts in Revelation of Jesus the Christ that people are in "caves" and the sun is scorching people.
Now the Bible was written 2000 years ago in the last chapter approximately and yet it explains completely a yellow dwarf event which scientists see throughout the galaxy.

People will survive, but even Mr. Coleman has to take into all considerations and assist that America needs to implement a policy of taking global warming scam funds and using them as grants for homeowners to build and stock shelters........not just for the weather, but while we petered away 2 decades the Russians have been building huge underground cities for a nuclear war they are preparing for.

This building program would help the American economy immensely and spare allot of hardship. It is the prudent thing to do now that the scam is being defeated and we prepare for the next power grab of the globalists "using food shortage scam from bio fuels and water shortages".

You make a very good point,

You make a very good point, Lame Cherry. I was reading an editorial by Joseph Farah on World Net Daily yesterday, and he made the point that if man made global warming was real, the Bible, especially the OT would have addressed it. Just about all of the prophecies in the OT have come to pass, but no mention is made of global warming.

As for me, 2nd Peter says the earth and the heavens will all burn up including the things that hold them together but it wont be from greenhouse gasses.

I think in our arrogance we have returned to the Tower of Babel, that we think we can turn back the weather to our liking.

I agree that GW is a scam, and when the Next Big Thing comes along funding will dry up and GW will be history.

John Coleman

As a point of reference John Coleman was a freshman in college when he started his career as an on-air meteorologist (scientist who studies the atmosphere to see how it affects the environment and to predict the weather and climate trend) - Algore was 5 years old at the time.  Mr. Coleman has worked as a respected meteorologist ever since including a seven year stint on Good Morning America and is currently the senior meteorologist at KSUI in San Diego.

He was a meteorologist, Bal,

He was a meteorologist, Bal, which is more than can be said for Al Gore.

My wife and I spent a lot of years living in San Diego while I as on active duty in the Navy. During our time there, we came to love watching John Coleman on KUSI Channel 9. He is so full of energy, and he has a great resume to boot.

If you are ever in San Diego on a Friday night, make sure you watch the KUSI news at 9pm or 10pm.

You ask about Algore's

10ksnooker, you ask about Algore's scientific credentials? Why, it is a grade of D in natural sciences when he was in college. When he decided he didn't have a prayer in a scientific field, he entered Divinity School, from which he also flunked out. Our former VP is an intellectual giant, a legend in his own mind. He is also proof that you can't fool all of the people all of the time, otherwise, he'd have been President.

I've been watching John here in San Diego for the last ten years or so and he is the best. Other "weathermen" pale in comparison. John is a bonafide meteoroligist and is one of the most adept at using his "super computer" to make his forecasts (which are amazingly accurate!). The station he is on (KUSI- emphasis is John's! you'd have to hear him say it...) is an independent (no more networks for John!) and he pretty much has the run of the place. He is the one everyone in San Diego was watching during the fires here a couple weeks ago and he was dead on about when the Santa Ana winds would end. I value his forecasts more than any other here in San Diego and now I have even more reason to call him my favorite!

Past Google search: antartic, greenland. glacier core drillings, CO2

Found in search e-mail correspondence between three ice core scientists, russian, greenland, and antartic. Went on for many pages, with interactive discussion of isotopes, gasses, but ended up with agreement on"anomolies". That is, the findings of CO2 above and below the "norm". It was agreed to "DELETE THE ANOMOLIES".    Thus, the  accepted scientific data-graph shows continual rising in the CO2 levels over time.  Someone should get the original data.

Past google search: Polar volcanic activity global warming:

1: Volcano under ross ice shelf. German team mapping, causing ice shelf melt

2: rise in volcanic activity in polar north region.

Latest google search:Polar volcanic activity global warming: Several "studies" condensed finding is:

Human activity causing warming causing ice to melt causing release of pressure on land causing volcanic activity.

These are my findings.

Read Cargo Cult Science by Richard Feynman or, even better,

Extraordinary Delusions and the Madness of Crowds, written in the 19th century.  Read Malthus about how we will all starve to death by the year 1900.

Al Gore is just the latest fraud, impostor, hoaxer in a long line of snake-oil salesmen and intellectual quacks.  There's a reason he couldn't get into law school at Harvard despite the fact that his daddy was a US Senator!

Just goes to show what it takes to win an Emmy, an Oscar and aNobel Peace Prize.  Go with the flow and sell your soul to the cabal that wants to destroy western industrial civilization.  It'll do wonders for one's career if one is a complete hypocrite with no moral fiber or brainpower.

They will still win

It's true, in 10-20 years they will see that global warming is really not an issue. BUT, the scam artists will claim that because of their efforts, warming has been REVERSED, and therefor we must continue with their ridiculous policies because it's working.

Crisis Pandering

Bingo.

They create the illusion of a crisis, then tax you into poverty to fix it, and when it finally becomes obvious there was no problem to begin with they say, "See?! We fixed it!"

If you want a PhD in scamming, watch how Hillary Clinton, Al Gore, and the DNC leadership get and keep an issue into the public forum.

ICECAP and John Coleman are a puzzle

If they so disagree with the climate change science, then why don`t they take it up with their own American Metreological Society first - are they calling all of their colleagues who disagree with them "dastardly" or "environmental whacko" types? The AMS Council in 2003 approved a long statement that included the following: http://www.ametsoc.o...

[T]here is convincing evidence that since the industrial revolution, human activities, resulting in increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases and other trace constituents in the atmosphere, have become a major agent of climate change. During the industrial period, the atmospheric abundance of carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, halocarbons (e.g., chlorofluorocarbons), and tropospheric ozone have increased as a direct result of human activity. The increase of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has come largely from fossil fuel combustion and land clearing. Methane is produced in anoxic environments in wetlands, agriculture, and landfills, and is also inadvertently released to the atmosphere during energy exploration and delivery. Nitrous oxide is formed by microbial reactions in soils and waters, including those acting on the increasing amounts of nitrogen contained in fertilizers. The major sources of chlorofluorocarbons are refrigerants, industrial uses, and aerosol propellants. Tropospheric ozone is formed by photochemical reactions involving emissions of methane and pollutants and is the third most important greenhouse gas after carbon dioxide and methane. However, the relative effect of carbon dioxide dominates all other anthropogenic increases of greenhouse gases since the industrial revolution. An overwhelming majority of scientists agree on the following facts relating to the global warming issue. - The theory of how greenhouse gases directly interact with atmospheric radiation is not controversial. If no other factors counter their influence, increases in their concentration will lead to global warming. - A steady rise in the concentration of greenhouse gases began over 200 years ago and is continuing. Atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide, the principal greenhouse gas, has increased from pre-industrial concentrations of 280 ppmv (parts per million by volume) to over 367 ppmv in 2000, an increase of more than 30%; methane has increased from 0.7 to about 1.8 ppmv, an increase of more than 150%; nitrous oxide has increased from 0.27 to over 0.31 ppmv, an increase of 16%. Tropospheric ozone is estimated to have increased by 35% since the industrial revolution. - At current rates and modes of energy use, doubling of carbon dioxide relative to preindustrial levels is likely to occur by the mid- or late twenty-first century. - If we were to proceed on our present course until the current global inventory of known oil and coal deposits are exhausted, carbon dioxide concentrations could reach 4-6 times those of preindustrial levels. - Because carbon dioxide is not destroyed chemically in the atmosphere, centuries and longer will be required before the added carbon dioxide is removed from the atmosphere to the deep ocean and geologic reservoirs. Informed policy decisions of government and industry demand unbiased assessments of scientific results by the scientific community. The nature of science is such that there is rarely total agreement among scientists. ... Because human activities are contributing to and accelerating climate change, we have a collective responsibility to develop and undertake carefully considered response actions. The fundamental challenge is to manage the risk represented by climate change in the larger context of overall societal issues and environmental stresses.

Besides taking it up with the AMS, and all of the scientists from the US and elsewhere who contribute to the IPCC, it`s not clear what it is that Coleman is saying - that climate change is a "scam" by a huge array of wacko or evil scientists, their friends in government, eEnvironmental extremists, notable politicians, movie, media and other liberal, environmentalist journalists who have created a wild “scientific” scenario of the civilization threatening environmental consequences from Global Warming unless we adhere to their radical agenda? If so, where can we find any documents outlining the scam? There are plenty of Republicans (didn`t Bush`s Dad start all this?), leading corporations, evangelicals etc in on this - so there`s got to be something somewhere spelling out the goals, benefits and marching orders, right? A scam this big ought to be pretty leaky. I am especially curious as to what the "radical agenda" of all these diverse parties is. Next, how did these scammers manage to convince almost all of our other allies to go along? Twist their arms, buy them off? Corrupt all of their scientists with fake research jobs from our budget? And, finally, how did they manage to turn Pres. Bush and his science adviser? Pres. George Bush: "Our guiding principle is clear. We must lead the world to produce fewer greenhouse gas emissions and we must do it in a way that does not undermine economic growth or prevent nations from delivering greater prosperity for their people."

What you left out...

You left out key parts:

"...but we cannot rule out that some significant part of these changes is also a reflection of natural variability. [...] ...it is proving difficult to achieve national and international consensus as to what should and could be done to address the issues. [...] ...natural processes such as solar variability and volcanic outgassing were the dominant forcing factors producing long-term climate changes over periods of decades, centuries, and millennia. [...] The nature of science is such that there is rarely total agreement among scientists. [...] While significant progress has been made toward a better understanding and improved projection of climate change and its impacts, uncertainty remains regarding the magnitude, timing, and regional distribution of anticipated changes. [...] ...most of the data that have been used for climate purposes were and still are obtained from observation systems designed for other purposes (e.g., weather prediction). These data are often inadequate for the analysis and description of climate change because of the higher accuracy requirements for observations used to detect very low amplitude climate changes over long time periods. [...] The Earth's climate system is tightly coupled and awe inspiring in its complexity. Understanding and modeling the myriad physical, chemical, and biological forcing, interactions, and feedbacks of the system is a daunting task that will continue to occupy researchers for the foreseeable future. [...] Land-use change is another important human-induced regional forcing factor, but accurate histories of land-use change are spotty and estimates of future land-use changes are very difficult. [...] Cloud feedback may also be very important, but its magnitude and even its sign remain uncertain. Climate-induced changes of the land surface may in turn feed back on the climate itself. Many processes are involved, including changes in soil characteristics (e.g., soil moisture, holding capacity), vegetation, radiative characteristics (e.g., albedo), and surface-atmosphere exchanges of water vapor, other gases (e.g., CO2), particulates (e.g., dust) and momentum. Some of these processes remain poorly understood and difficult to measure and model, and thus require continued research. The full suite of potentially important feedback processes is yet to be adequately understood and quantified. For example, although observations of global mean temperatures indicate that the surface has warmed by about 0.6°C over the past 100 years, the mean tropospheric temperature trends, for which we have observations only over the past 40 years or so, are more complex and not well understood. Although there remains significant observational uncertainties, global mean tropospheric temperatures warmed faster in the 1960s and 1970s, and slower in the 1980s and 1990s, than the global mean surface temperature. These differences indicate the need for research into feedback processes that might explain this reversal in tropospheric temperature trends. Additional poorly understood feedbacks of potential importance are carbon cycle feedback, due to warming-induced changes in the land and ocean carbon reservoirs; atmospheric chemistry feedback, due to chemical interactions affecting ozone concentrations, aerosol formation, and atmospheric heating profiles; and ocean circulation feedback, arising from ocean circulation changes that affect ocean-atmosphere heat and freshwater exchange. [...] The relatively short instrumental time series, generally less than a century in length, is often too short to adequately characterize longer-term variability. [...] ...many crucial details of magnitude, timing, and specific regional responses-especially for hydrological variables, such as precipitation-are still very much in doubt. The uncertainties arise due to incomplete identification and understanding of processes significant in future climate, and their necessary approximations in models. [...] The assessment of regional environmental and social impacts is a multidisciplinary task that involves natural and social scientists working in tandem with policy makers. [...] ...climate models will never be perfect. Only a portion of natural climate variability is predictable, and the inherent degree of predictability is not yet well understood. [...] Risk cannot be assessed with absolute certainty. [...] Extensive multidisciplinary research is needed to narrow the many formidable knowledge gaps."

If you have not noticed Pres. Bush's approval ratings are in the toilet.

The Anti "Man-Made" Global Warming Resource

PT, so the Am Meteorology Soc is NOT part of the scam?

Glad to see you support them. Of course what you quote is stated by the IPCC and other scientists.

If Joe Aleo, John Coleman and others at ICECAP think that AGW is a scam, then they ought to repudiate what you`ve just quoted. Otherwise, they should stop calling their colleagues who support the AMS postion a bunch of low-lifes.

Right?

Pres. George Bush: Our guiding principle is clear. We must lead the world to produce fewer greenhouse gas emissions and we must do it in a way that does not undermine economic growth or prevent nations from delivering greater prosperity for their people.

Here's a "Must Read"

Read Gary Novak's Perspective on Global Warming. Its one of the best explanations I have ever read. I dare any GW Alarmist to read his Perspective and then say man is causing Global Warming or that we have any effect on Earth's climate.

Among the things he points out are:

Water vapor affects atmospheric temperatures at a much greater rate than CO2 and there is 33 times as much water vapor in the atmosphere as CO2. Where's the call to reduce water vapor emissions?

Major Ice Ages occur about every 100,000 years. On a chart he provides, he shows that we are at the peak of a warming period that followed the last Ice Age. As has happened each and every time we have had an Ice Age, the average temperatures will start to go back down into the next Ice Age. Of course, it will take 10s of thousands of years, but it will happen.

The primary cause for the increase in CO2 is release from the oceans as they warm. The primary cause of the ocean warming is heat radiated from the earth's core. It is believed that there is a "hot spot" in the earth's core than moves around. When it is under the Southern Hemisphere, which has less land mass and more oceans, it causes the oceans to warm.

The Artic Ice Cap melting is not caused by atmospheric warming, but by ocean warming. Since 90% of ocean ice is below the surface, it is impossible for air temperatures to melt the submerged ice. Only warmer ocean temperatures can melt the submerged ice. Neither solar energy or air temperatures have any effect in warming the oceans, as solar radiation only penetrates a few feet into the oceans and air temperatures have virtually no effect on ocean temperatures. As stated above, ocean warming is caused by heating by the earth's core.

To test this fact, try the following experiment. Place a block of ice in a container filled with 33 degree water. Place another block of ice in an empty container in your refrigerator. (which should be at around 35 degrees) Time how long it takes each to melt. The block of ice in the water will melt much faster than that in the fridge. Now do the same experiment in 35 degree water and in your fridge with the temperature set at 38 degrees. (representing rising ocean and air temps) The ice in the water will melt a little faster, but there will be almost no change in the time it take for the ice to melt in the fridge.

His best fact is this: "Notice that humans only add 1% as much CO2 to the atmosphere per year as already in it. If such a miniscule amount were as critical as propagandists claim, all life would have been destroyed long ago. Nature hasn't been sitting on a 1% knife edge for millions of years."

Would this be, by any

Would this be, by any chance, the first time you have ever quoted "W" favorably? I thought so!

Actually most of us don't have any problem with the presidents comments since they amount to a committment to remove greenhouse gasses as long as it doesn't cost anything. That's a lot better than ruining the economy and putting my descendents future in the hands of agenda driven eco-nazis.

You don't need much of an organization to promote the global warming scam and the Union of Concerned Scientists and their fellow travelers provide that. What you do need is gullible lemmings who accept without any skepticism that the science is settled when in truth anything based on computer models is purely guesswork unless confirmed by real world data and the AGW proponents haven't been able to do a very good job of that.

Oh, and a host of researchers who are afraid that the government grants that allow them to make a good living would disappear if they didn't predict a looming disaster which of course demands a great deal more study.

As far as other countries, Gullibility is not just an American trait, it's universal.

The earth does not exist in a static condition, it's either warming or cooling all the time. It warms and cools every day, every year, and in other cycles, some of which we don't fully understand yet.  Get used to it, you aren't going to change it.

The RCC Had Their Indulgences, Al Gore Has His Carbon Credits

Just as the Roman Catholic Church sold indulgences to absolve people of their sins during the Dark Ages, so Al Gore sells his carbon credits to absolve companies of their "sins".
