Has John Heilemann ever gotten this riled up over the commies ruling Cuba? If so, I missed it. But on his Bloomberg TV show tonight, Heilemann got on his populist high horse to blast the British monarchy on the occasion of the visit to the US of Prince William and Princess Kate, mocking them as "undereducated" and calling for the British monarchy to be "done away with tomorrow."
In Heilemann's view, the real "royalty" on view at the Brooklyn Nets game tonight will be Beyoncé, Jay-Z and Lebron James.
Beyond his lèse-majesté, if for nothing else Heilemann should be confined to the Tower of London for his abominable English-accent imitation that preceded his anti-royal rant.
JOHN HEILEMANN: [Bad British-accent imitation describing royals' visit]
MARK HALPERIN: Are you done?
HEILEMANN: I'm done. The monarchy is -- first of all let's just say this: there's going to be royalty at that Nets game tonight, in the form of LeBron James, and in the form of Beyoncé and Jay-Z. That is the royalty that we respect here in New York City, my friend, not these poncy, undereducated, over-entitled British snobs who are part of this ruling class, this dynastic ridiculousness that has stratified, reified the class system in Britain. It's horrible, the monarchy. It should be done away with tomorrow.
