While appearing on the Late Show with David Letterman, Mika Brzezinski took time to share her fondest memories growing up in a liberal household with father Zbignew Brzezinski, National Security Advisor to President Carter. Brzezinski described the upheaval in her life when her father was appointed to Carter’s staff, saying that, “It happened overnight, and all of a sudden we were going to the White House all the time and traveling around the world because my parents believed it was important to do everything together...." Further on in the segment, Mika provided several colerful anecdotes including one where her mother openly challenged the Pope in person on the issue of contraception. Letterman asked Mika how Pope John Paul II responded to her mother’s confrontation to which she responded, “very patiently.”
In addition Mika takes a cheerful swipe at her brother who she revealed was a Republican claiming that, “I don’t think he turned out so well.”
