Elisabeth Hasselbeck Smacks Down Behar For Comparing Philanderer John Edwards to Mitt Romney

April 26th, 2012 3:36 PM

Disgraced former Democratic vice presidential nominee John Edwards, who cheated on his cancer-stricken wife, reminds liberal "The View" co-host Joy Behar of Mitt Romney, even though the latter has been faithful to his wife of more than 40 years, even during Ann Romney’s battles with multiple sclerosis and cancer. But the show’s only conservative, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, was not going to let Joy get away with outrageous statement. After Behar’s outlandish comments, Hasselbeck unleashed a torrent of comments, saying, “Romney’s stood by his wife during illness-- Don’t equate the narcissist John Edwards that he was who turned on his family to Mitt Romney, who stand by his wife, through cancer, through MS, through the decade.”

So what was Joy Behar’s logic for comparing Mitt Romney to John Edwards? Apparently because both have well-coiffed hair. Even after Elisabeth’s rant, Joy still stood by her asinine comment, saying, “Get a grip. They remind me of each other.”

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: There’s no winners in this. There's no winners.

ELISABETH HASSELBECK: We’re the winners actually, because we didn’t actually have to see him in the White House as Vice President

[ Applause ]

(CROSSTALK)

JOY BEHAR: That’s right. We came this close to him being a vice presidential candidate, and Elisabeth and I spotted him combing his hair at the convention. And the mirror, it she said to me, uh-oh, look at this guy, you know. I feel that way about Romney too.

SHERRI SHEPHERD: Well, wait a minute– Are you acting like that about any candidate that we have in office doesn’t have any kind of skeletons?

HASSELBECK: Who?

BEHAR:: Romney--

HASSELBECK: No. Please do not equate the two.

SHEPHERD: I'm not saying everybody–

GOLDBERG: No, she’s talking to Joy.

HASSELBECK: Look, Romney’s stood by his wife during illness-- Don’t equate the narcissist John Edwards that he was who turned on his family to--to Mitt Romney, who stand by his wife, through cancer, through MS, through the decade.

BEHAR: I'm not equating that. I’m not saying, get a grip. They remind me of each other.

HASSELBECK: Why would you equate the two?

BEHAR: I said that they remind me of each other.

HASSELBECK: They don't remind me of anything of one another

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: You know what it reminds me of, it reminds me that there's a time and place for commercials, and we are there now. We'll be right back with more "hot topics"!
