After Joe Scarborough’s intra-squad snarking of Keith Olbermann yesterday morning, one might have expected a better-behaved Brew Crew today.
No such luck for Chris Matthews – Pat Buchanan had different plans.
In a discussion of the polling data in Virginia’s gubernatorial race, Joe asked Lawrence O’Donnell why the Democrat was doing so poorly in a state that President Obama won by a large margin last year:
JOE SCARBOROUGH: Why [crosstalk] Democrats doing better in Virginia a year after Obama’s historic victory?
LAWRENCE O’DONNELL: Because Obama is Obama! I mean, the notion that Obama going in and getting a historic win in a state like that, suggests that someone else can do it two years later is crazy to me.
JON MEACHAM: It’s not transferable.
O’DONNELL: Obama was the most magical political candidate we’ve seen in a long time.
SCARBOROUGH: Yes, and that’s exactly what Pat Buchanan said – “magical.” Yes, Pat.
PAT BUCHANAN [laughing]: Yeah, Joe. Yeah, made my leg tingle.
[laughter on the set]
SCARBOROUGH: I can’t believe he went there.
Two days in a row. This is, in a word: "Magical."
