On Jan 28, Utah Governor Spencer Cox (R) signed a bill that aimed to protect the lives of children, one of which banned youth from receiving “gender-affirming healthcare.”
The Utah Legislature sent Cox measures that would prohibit youth from getting mutilation surgeries and would disallow hormone treatments. Cox signed it even though previously, as the Associated Press noted, he hadn’t taken a “public position” on transgender measures.
Essentially, underage kids in Utah can’t make life-changing decisions like cutting off their genitalia or getting medically unnecessary mastectomies, and they can’t start taking hormones to chemically change their body composition.
Cox made a statement explaining how he wanted to pause “these permanent and life-altering treatments for new patients until more and better research can help determine the long-term consequences.”
“While we understand our words will be of little comfort to those who disagree with us, we sincerely hope that we can treat our transgender families with more love and respect as we work to better understand the science and consequences behind these procedures,” he added.
Naturally, since the left loves when kids harm and permanently change their God-given bodies, numerous individuals, groups and outlets were peeved at Cox’s stance.
The ACLU of Utah sent a letter to Cox’s office stating that his law “effectively bans access to life-saving medical care for transgender youth in Utah. It undermines the health and well-being of adolescents, limits the options of doctors, patients, and parents, and violates the constitutional rights of these families.”
I guess we can just make up a bunch of mumbo-jumbo and call life-threatening surgeries and procedures “life-saving” in order to push an agenda.
Here are a few tweets from raging leftists, too:
The GOP is continuing its attacks on transgender youth by banning gender-affirming care in Utah.

This healthcare is necessary and often lifesaving.https://t.co/I0xuqqxMkk
Utah jumped on the bandwagon of banning trans kids from receiving healthcare. And people wonder why so many trans kids are at risk of suicide.

In CA, we’re moving in the opposite direction: Uplifting these kids instead of demonizing their families & MDs. https://t.co/sn2qZCwaCL
ICYMI: Gov. Cox of Utah signed legislation to ban gender-affirming care for minors across the state, wasting no time restricting the rights of trans youth & attacking their overall well-being.

Trans youth deserve access to this necessary care. https://t.co/7rKlhydpMG
“This would deny access to life-saving care for transgender youth and cause irreparable harm to their physical and mental well-being.” https://t.co/s1iWLpGnKD

I’m unsure who told the left that chemically or physically modifying a child’s body to feed a delusional sense of self identity was a good thing, but it’s not. Cox simply noticed that and took action.
Despite the pushback, kids in Utah will be spared the dangers of the “gender-affirming” tactics of the left. Hopefully other states follow suit.
