It is no surprise that MSNBC’s Joy Reid continues to use her “Absolute Worst” segment to rant about prominent Republican leaders. On Thursday night, she ranted about South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem’s decision to send national guard troops to the border to assist with the ongoing crisis, but for Reid, this crisis is “nonexistent.”
During her rant, Reid slammed Texas Governor Greg Abbott for his plea to increase border security and Noem for her decision to respond to Abbott:
Joining fellow MAGA sycophant DeSantis and the governors of Iowa and Nebraska in sending help to the border. 50 National Guard troops are being deployed in response to Greg Abbott's plea for more border security for a nonexistent crisis.
To say there is no border crisis is a complete lie, considering the fact that there has been a massive increase in apprehensions. But Reid, who failed to produce evidence for her outlandish claim, must think she has a better understanding of the southern border than Abbott whose state is greatly affected by this issue.
Later in the segment, Reid claimed Noem doesn’t care about helping the people of Texas. She stated, “Actually, Kristi, your message is I'm running for president in 2024, this is how I pander to the MAGA crowd and check the box on immigration fear-mongering to compete with Greg Abbott and Ron DeSantis.” However, it is pretty clear that the influx of migrants at the Southern Border is not slowing down, and unlike the Biden Administration, Noem is actively working to resolve this conflict and protect the state of Texas.
For Reid, the “absolute worst” is now someone working to secure the border and protect Americans. This segment proves that the liberal media’s goal is to make Republican leaders look bad even if it requires them to straight-up lie about an ongoing issue affecting thousands of Americans.

7:57 p.m. ESTJOY REID: The roaming gnome is back at it again. Governor Kristi Noem that is. It would appear that our inaugural absolute worst is jealous of all of the attention our two record-holders, Republican governors, Greg Abbott of Texas and Florida’s Ron DeSantis are getting so she's sending South Dakota's national Guard troops roaming, deploying them to the Southern border of Texas. Joining fellow MAGA sycophant DeSantis and the governors of Iowa and Nebraska in sending help to the border. 50 National Guard troops are being deployed in response to Greg Abbott's plea for more border security for a nonexistent crisis.
Noem said they’ll be there for 2 to 3 months in a word salad statement of GOP talking points, border blah blah blah, adding my message to Texas is, help is on the way. Actually, Kristi, your message is I'm running for president in 2024. This is how I pander to the MAGA crowd and check the box on immigration fear-mongering to compete with Greg Abbott and Ron DeSantis. Yeah. For his part, Abbott was palling around with Orange Julius Caesar for some photo-op nonsense at the border yesterday. It’s also worth noting that those other governors are sending state law enforcement officers not National Guard troops.
But anywhomst, the story is far stranger and far more dangerous than just the ordinary political pandering and fear-mongering around the issue of the border. The absolute worst is something that she slipped in at the end of her announcement that the deployment would be paid for by a private donation, specifically money from a billionaire GOP mega-donor. Tennessee junk auto parts man and Orange man super-fan, Willis Johnson who fronted the undisclosed sum. He told the Daily Beast that he reached out to Noem because he saw what DeSantis was doing and thought South Dakota had less resources. A spokesman acknowledged the donation came from Johnson’s donation and said it was to alleviate the cost to South Dakota taxpayers. So there you have it. This is where we've come to, America. A super-wealthy political donor is paying for American soldiers to deploy on a military mission with political undertones. According to The Washington Post, military posse experts blasted the move. Quote, privately funding a military mission is an affront to civilian oversight of the armed forces, said military and oversights experts, describing the move as likely unprecedented and unethical.
