If you want to maintain job security at the Washington Post, you must adhere to the Orange Man Bad narrative- whether you are a conservative, or a "conservative" such as columnist Kathleen Parker. On Tuesday, Parker stuck to that policy by writing yet another column based on the Orange Man Bad narrative concerning the response to coronavirus "Let Andrew Cuomo speak for America, not Trump."
Unfortunately for Parker, her attempt to boost Cuomo backfired on her in a most embarrassing way just a short time later. But before we get to her self-inflicted pie on the face, let's take a brief look at the praise she heaped upon Cuomo, which contrasted sharply with her portrayal of President Donald Trump:
On one screen Monday, President Trump spoke at length about himself (and at times about the coronavirus). More than once, he wandered off script, at one point talking about how many billions of dollars he could have made had he not become president. But, he added, he was glad he had because he’s now a wartime president and, presumably, one was to infer, the country needs him.
How are people supposed to feel when they hear this? To each his own, but I fear a selfish child is in control of our fates.
Got it. Orange Man Bad who doesn't hold a candle to the person Parker holds out as the sum of almost all virtue:
On another screen, New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo updated New Yorkers and the nation about the virus in his state. Unlike Trump’s self-indulgent soliloquies, Cuomo’s statements were straightforward, honest, factual and, despite the dire statistics, refreshingly reassuring. He understands that adults can absorb information and respond appropriately.
...No doubt, many are wishing Cuomo were president right now, as suggested by a hashtag trending on Twitter — #CuomoForPresident. The governor’s in-charge demeanor and straight talk remind us of what a leader looks and acts like.
I'll spare the readers the possibility of tooth decay from all the saccharine Parker pours in the form of praises for Cuomo but there is one observation she made, which laughably boomeranged on her bigtime shortly after publication:
Cuomo came down hard on the federal government for stockpiling 20,000 ventilators desperately needed in New York. He suggested that the feds deploy the ventilators according to need, then rotate them out to the next state as its apex is reached, and so on.
“How can we be in a situation where you can have New Yorkers possibly dying because they can’t get a ventilator, but a federal agency saying I’m going to leave the ventilators in the stockpile?” he asked. “I mean, have we really come to that point?”
Who could that heartless cad be that would stockpile ventilators in the midst of the current crisis? Well, just a few days later Brit Hume revealed his identity in a tweet:
Cuomo says the ventilators NY has have not been distributed because “the hospitals don’t need them yet.” He says he expects they will be needed when the NY outbreak reaches its apex.

We have ventilators in a stockpile and we didn't send them to the hospitals yet. Of course we didn't! That's the whole point.
Oops! So it was Andrew Cuomo himself who stockpiled the ventilators, as he admitted. Suffering public humiliation after heaping praise upon him is one of the byproducts poor Parker must expect when she follows the dictates of the Bezos Blog.
