The media relationship with the Russian collusion narrative is akin to the ex-boyfriend a high school adolescent cannot seem to move on from. It is over. No one is in need of hearing this dosage of cold-hard truth more than the individuals at MSNBC, as proven by Friday's Morning Joe.
As part of the press conniption over President Trump’s decision to replace the acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire, MSNBC’s Willie Geist opined his disgust in the format of a question:
So Jeremy, as Ken reported in his piece for NBC News, he quote "ODNI is nearing a meltdown." That's the second official that Ken and Andrew quote in their story. You've worked in the intelligence agencies. You know a lot of people in and around this story. What is the state of affairs? What is the impact of the President of the United States putting this kind of pressure on?
National Security Analyst Jeremy Bash, a former Obama administration official, then elevated the conversation to MSNBC Trump Derangement Syndrome heights with his unfounded, unsubstantiated and erroneous claims:
Yeah, there's dire concern and I've also talked to folks inside the intelligence community over the last 24 hours and a couple of additional notes... This is all an effort to squash any information at all about a Russian cyber-attack on our 2020 election, because if the Russians are attacking our election processes and they are doing so to benefit Donald Trump, I think frankly the President welcomes it.
He continued to trash the President:
He wants it. He doesn't want his intelligence community defending us. He doesn't want the intelligence community warning against us. He certainly doesn't want Congress understanding it because, heaven forbid, they might actually help protect our Democracy against this attack. He welcomes it. Last time, he requested it, he received that benefit, he benefited from it, he welcomed it and he rewarded it. He rewarded Vladimir Putin. This is nothing short of the President of the United States wanting, wanting this attack to occur.
It is a safe bet to assume Bash failed to read the Mueller Report. Clearly Geist didn’t either as he gave validation to Bash’s ludicrous assessment: “No question about it.”
MSNBC’s detachment from the real world becomes more and more apparent with each passing day.
