Let the clown games recommence! Tuesday marked night one of the second round of Democratic presidential primary debates and late-night leftist zealot Trevor Noah did not waste any time on The Daily Show following the debates to crown two candidates victorious for their performances.
In a shocking twist, Noah touted author and spiritual guru Marianne Williamson as one of the coveted spots in the winners’ category:
Wow, Marianne Williamson, huh. That was a powerful moment in the debate. I didn't know it was possible for a white woman to get that much attention from black people without calling the cops. That was amazing. She was fired, you see that? It was an amazing night and for many people, she was the winner of the debate. She came out, she said what she wanted to say, she didn't waste her time.
Almost by default, the second crown was guaranteed to be bestowed upon Senator Elizabeth Warren, who Noah declared had a “swag” about her following the June debate. Noah continued the love- fest for Warren this time around, “One of the only exceptions tonight was Elizabeth Warren. She was connecting with the audience. She seemed to be crystal clear every time and she never seemed off her game.”
In a later segment, New York Magazine correspondent Olivia Nuzzi, concurred with the notion that Williamson emerged successful from the debate while also explaining what her appeal is to the masses:
…I do think she was a very strong performer tonight and I think it's because she's coming from it — it was not the most diverse crowd up there… And I think she is genuinely different and that helps kind of set her apart and helps her be heard, but I also think the way that she talks about these things, she's not — because the expectations for her are so low, they are much lower than they are… And so she's able to get at these universal truths in an interesting way and I think that separates her from people like Pete Buttigieg —— or even Beto or any of the other candidates who are so afraid of screwing up that they sound inhuman.
Maybe all of the other Democratic candidates should follow Williamson’s advice and harness the next debate with love against a “dark psychic force.”

I didn't know it was possible for a white woman to get that much attention from black people without calling the cops. That was amazing. [LAUGHTER] She was fired, you see that? It was an amazing night and for many people, she was the winner of the debate. She came out. She said what she wanted to say, she didn't waste her time and all in all, like, I don’t — I don’t think this was the most earth shattering debate. The timing of the questions felt inconsistent. The candidates responses weren't crystal clear, and we didn't really learn anything new. One of the only exceptions tonight was Elizabeth Warren, right? She was connecting with the audience. She seemed to be crystal clear every time and she never seemed off her game.

TREVOR NOAH: When you look at Marianne Williamson tonight, why do you think she won the debates as they say?
OLIVIA NUZZI: Are they saying that?
NOAH: No, I'm saying as people — no, I’m saying as a phrase. You know how people say they won the debate? I don't know how you win a debate.
NUZZI: I don’t think you can win a debate either.
NOAH: But people say you won the debate so —
NUZZI: This is something that pundits get to decide, right?
NOAH: Right.
NUZZI: So we, therefore, shouldn't really believe it when people say anything definitive about something where there is no voting. But that said, I do think she was a very strong performer tonight and I think it's because she's coming from it — it was not the most diverse crowd up there.
NOAH: Yes, right.
NUZZI: And I think she is genuinely different and that helps kind of set her apart and helps her be heard, but I also think the way that she talks about these things, she's not — because the expectations for her are so low, they are much lower than they are — [LAUGHTER]
NOAH: No, this is true. I understand what you’re saying
NUZZI: They are.
NOAH: because, yes because you are coming in as a one percent —
NUZZI: Yes.
NOAH: — non-politician.
NUZZI: No one was —
NOAH: Yes.
NUZZI: — waiting for her to get in the race because they thought she was surly the next President.
NOAH: Right.
NUZZI: She does not have that in common with Hilary Clinton, but I think because the expectations are so low, she is kind of freed up. She's able to talk and say what she really means and what she really thinks and she doesn't sound like a consultant, clearly —
NOAH: Right
NUZZI: — or not like any consultant I've ever met.
NOAH: Yes.
NUZZI: And so she's able to get at these universal truths in an interesting way and I think that separates her from people like Pete Buttigieg —
NOAH: Right, right, right.
NUZZI: — or even Beto or any of the other candidates who are so afraid of screwing up that they sound inhuman.
