Bill Maher: Republicans Are Part of a 'Fascist Club'

June 17th, 2019 12:04 PM

Bill Maher satisfied his starvation for the limelight on Friday night’s Real Time by fixating the audience on his obsessive disdain for President Trump and the Republican Party as a whole.

Viewers of the program have come to expect the wildly outrageous claims regarding conservatives and President Trump espoused by the liberal talk show host. Friday night, Maher seemed to top even himself. He began by railing against the Republican Party, referring to it as a “fascist club”: “All they cared about wasn't that Trump admitted to treason and being a criminal, that's old news. They were upset that he broke the first rule of fascist club: He went outside of Fox News.”

Maher then unleashed his anger solely towards Trump: “And, of course, Trump has many types of lies. Today came the one I hate the most, the ridiculous, insulting, walk-back lie he tells when he says something ridiculous, and the next day, pulling this out of my ass. Barely bothering to make sense, fuck-you lie. He was on Fox & Friends doing this for almost an hour.”

Finally, to cap off a night of degrading insults against conservatives, Maher attacked the policies held by the Republican base during an interview with author George Will: “Aren't some of the Republican ideas of recent years dangerous, anti- science, anti-intellectual and somewhat racist? They seem to have won some elections based on that."

Maher has used this line of attack against Trump before, even as he admitted that he had "cried wolf" when insulting other Republicans in the past.

BILL MAHER: Now, of course, the Republican reaction was swift and severe -- I'm joking, of course. All they cared about wasn't that Trump admitted to treason and being a criminal, that's old news. They were upset that he broke the first rule of fascist club: He went outside of Fox News. Laura Ingraham said "Why did anybody put Trump in that situation?" It's an interview with the President. I'm not putting a baby on a horse. And, of course, Trump has many types of lies. Today came the one I hate the most, the ridiculous, insulting, walk-back lie he tells when he says something ridiculous, and the next day, pulling this out of my ass. Barely bothering to make sense, fuck-you lie. He was on Fox & Friends doing this for almost an hour.
