ABC Celebrates Amy Schumer Boycotting Super Bowl Ads for Kaepernick

On Friday, far-left comedian Amy Schumer announced that the reason no one would be seeing her in Super Bowl ads next year was that she was boycotting on behalf of mediocre quarterback Colin Kaepernick. During Sunday’s Good Morning America, ABC’s liberal anchors celebrated Schumer’s decision and were interested in seeing if her “peer pressure” would cause a larger “celebrity boycott” of commercials and the halftime show.

“Amy Schumer is sidelining her jokes and getting serious. The comedian saying she won't profit by appearing in any Super Bowl commercials this year and she takes aim at the NFL,” touted co-anchor Eva Pilgrim as she led into her report. “On Friday, Trainwreck’s powerhouse performer taking aim at the NFL and its treatment of former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick…”

Reading from Schumer’s Instagram post announcement, Pilgrim said “‘I personally told my reps I wouldn't do a Super Bowl commercial this year.’ Adding, ‘Hitting the NFL with the advertisers is the only way to really hurt them. Stand up for your brothers and sisters of color.’”

To amp up ABC’s celebrity worship, Pilgrim boasted about Schumer “standing in solidarity” with “Hollywood royalty” in boycotting the Super Bowl. “Singer Rihanna reportedly turning down an offer to headline the 53rd annual Super Bowl Halftime Show,” she noted.

The pair leading what could turn into a celebrity boycott,” Pilgrim added. “Schumer calling on a band rumored to be the 2019 halftime show headliners saying, ‘I think it would be cool if Maroon5 backed out of Super Bowl like bad gal Riri did.’”

To make the point about just how much Rihanna was giving up by turning down the Super Bowl halftime performance, ABC talked to Variety senior editor Marc Malkin. “When someone gets to be a halftime performer singing the Star Spangled Banner and all of those commercials, you are getting one of the biggest, biggest audiences on television,” he explained.

After finishing the video portion of the report, Pilgrim reminded viewers of Schumer liberal activist pedigree, noting “[s]he was arrested earlier this month while protesting the nomination of Justice Brett Kavanaugh.” Of course, there was no mention of her family ties to New York Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer.

It would be interesting, though, to see if other performers followed with her plea to not participate as well. So, we'll see,” declared co-anchor Whit Johnson as they wrapped up the segment. Co-anchor Dan Harris chimed in adding that “[p]eer pressure might be strong in this case.”

This comes after the liberal media praised Nike’s new ad campaign featuring Kaepernick and dismissed calls from some conservatives for a boycott of the shoemaker. Apparently, only boycotts from liberal celebrities matter.
