On Wednesday's Full Frontal show on TBS, liberal comedian Samantha Bee tore into House Speaker Paul Ryan during the show's opening monologue, calling him "f---ing horrible," a "f---ing coward," and declaring that "he has always been a bad person" in response to the Wisconsin Republican announcing his retirement.
Alluding to President Donald Trump's election, Bee began:
In the shadow of Trumpism, it's more important than ever to distinguish between honorable people we disagree with and actual bad people, so I want to be clear. Paul Ryan is a bad person -- he has always been a bad person.
She then claimed that, when he was first elected to political office in Wisconsin, "he was on the far-fringe right of conservatism" as she complained about his opposition to abortion and invoked former Missouri Republican Senate nominee Todd Akin's "legitimate rape" comments from the 2012 elections.
She then added:
He's not a statesman -- he's a wingnut. Paul Ryan isn't just leaving because he wants to spend time with his children -- he's leaving because he made a big mess and doesn't want to deal with the fallout. I guess it's like that famous Ayn Rand quote: "Run, run, you f---ing coward."
After mockingly speculating about what he might do in the future, which might include running for political office later, she added:
He's counting on us forgetting how f---ing horrible he is, but we will not forget. Paul Ryan, your legacy is making poor people pay for rich people's massive tax cuts, fighting to take health care away from millions, trying to gut social programs, defending the Muslim ban, enabling a constitutional crisis, and somehow convincing everyone that torching democratic norms and the social safety net is moderate.
The liberal host concluded her rant by declaring that she does not want to hear from Ryan again unless he is on "Dancing with the Stars."
