The media has always made a point to pit itself against President Donald Trump. And now, they’re employing Kathy Griffin’s help.
For whatever reason, the Washington Blade, an LGBT publication that describes itself as an “award winning news source with a large following in print and online,” invited Kathy Griffin to be a guest of its team at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. The comedienne, who made waves in 2017 after releasing a photo of her holding a bloody severed head made to look like Trump, announced her attendance on Friday, March 23.
Deadline confirmed, “A potential showdown looms next month between comedian Kathy Griffin and President Donald Trump.” The extremely vocal comedienne has tried to make a comeback in her field with her provocative international tours titled “Laugh Your Head Off.” Recently, she announced several shows in the United States, and sold out tickets to her show in Carnegie Hall.
In several interviews, Griffin has made it clear that she wants to continue #resisting, telling The Project, “I am no longer sorry. The whole outrage was B.S.” Since then, she has made her story seem like that of a martyr to the media, with The Hollywood Reporter being the latest outlet to call her a “comic in exile.” Everyone else has been at fault for Griffin’s woes, from CNN host Anderson Cooper (whom she famously called the “spineless heiress”) and attorney Lisa Bloom to Hollywood in general.
Griffin, however, has decided she is not to blame.
Trump famously shunned last year’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner, but promised to attend this year. However, given the latest development, could anyone really blame him if he avoids it this year?
